how much benefit do the avcs heads have over say v3sti heads?
Matt, they will make more power\torque across the rev range, but most important from my perspective is they will lower spool time letting the blower get on and do it's thing earlier.
been a bit side tracked with DIY for the last two months unfortunately, but it's been good to have a break from working on my car at least...got the four point lower brace on yesterday and it back on it's wheels for the first time in a few months. Acquired a few other bits including a AVCS Hydra and loom, MY05 AVCS heads are ready to be stripped and then they will get shot blasted along with the block before assembly.
The old ecu and new AVCS version...the old one supports v1-6 cars and is for sale
Whiteline four pint brace, now fitted but its fouling on the gearbox drain plug so I need to have a look once its got the engine in and on a ramp...
got myself some bargain wheels (thanks Gary); some 17" Superleggers. Lighter than my Prodrive P7's so they'll be up for grabes when I manage to get the car out of the garage...I'm going to stick some 888's or similar on the Superleggers...nasty colour repaint planned too
As it sits, on its wheels but still a bit of a building site...
I now have a little more time so was able to crack on tonight...its seen daylight for the first time in months...good to see it again I almost don't remember what it looks like
Getting the car out meant I could open the doors and get in to fit my new steering wheel, looks great and feels even better OEM+ FTW
Tailgate swap; I've had this GL tailgate for a while, I think I was lucky to find it...I've never seen a v5\6 royal silver GL wagon on the road. So no more mid-spoiler holes and a lovely GL AWD badge, I need to de-badge the rest of it though. Just going to get the glass swapped so I can retain my tint and spoiler mountings. This should give me a decent kick in the motivation pants, so looking forward to fitting it
No the feeling buddy. Been to busy working to get work done on my car. Just need to get on with it now. Next year will be a good one for the mocom race team though oh and the drift team

Hopefully once we get that other new shell I'll have another front bumper to ruin and then it's just the engine really Well until I rebuild that PPG and stick the Garrett on
I've made up my looms for the AVCS, just need to order some four plug connectors to make connecting them to the ECU a bit easier. I'll be using another Bright switch to control the ALS so I can mount it next to the proer Bright switch and keep the OEM look. I've got a Bright switch so I used t-cut to remove the Bright and will add some white lettering to read ALS...once I've found some
Also finished a job I've been putting off; removed the bulb from the airbag warning light on the dash. It meant I had to take the steering wheel off again...doh!
anti-slag switch in place; deeply unpleasant experience knocking the blanking plate out but I'm well pleased with the results. Just need to match the OE font on the bright switch...somehow
fell on my wing mirror and knocked it off, I have a replacement but can only get one of the three fixings undone...super.
