After a bit of low end tuning and a few low boost runs to settle her in, up a smidge with the boost to a nice and comfortable 2 bar and this was the result.

Fairly happy with the 582lbft from a 2.1.
Based on the earlier higher boost result on VPower, we are fairly confident there is at least another 30bhp in the spec at higher boost. But as the engine is still fairly fresh and the owner hasn't even driven it yet, we have decided to leave it where it is for a moment.

Martyn,

What heads / cams were on this ? Do you think a similar power figure / spool would be achievable with mine if i get my 35R billetized ?

Heads were brand new V8 small port AVCS, which were ported in house by our engineer Rob Baird, they were fitted with Cosworth + 1mm inlet and exhaust valves and Cosworth 278/274 cams.
The AVCS is were it's getting the spool from Omar, as you don't have it you'd struggle to achieve the same spool with a similar sized turbo.
As I mentioned by text, I suspect that either a .63 housing on your turbo or a swap to a Billet 30 would be a better way to go.
But lets give it a go as is and do something about it later if we need to.

The Billet 35R with a .82 hotside and an 82mm comp wheel will do that.
This was at just 1.9 bar on a 2.1 engine, we also saw 664bhp on VPower at 2.3 bar but as this is a road car we turned the wick down.

.63 would obviously spool better, but in my experience the .82 isn't bad on a 2.1 with AVCS, so if you have a 2.3 it should be nice !

Hi,

we have a number of GT30 billets running 600 + BHP and with the quick spool from a .63 housing they are exrtremely drivable too.

Having said that the GT35 Billets no slouch either and would get you the figures you are after easily, as a road car however the GT30 powered car would be quicker.

cheers
Kev

I have a std internal, 5 speed version 5 type r which turbo sc40 or sc42 would be best suited to my car I'm looking for around 380-400. Which would give similar spool or near as spool to my vf28? Or would one of the smaller sc36 or sc38 would be better suited. All the above would be run on vpower only.

Cheers

The SC42 is awesome, produces more power than the 40 and thanks to it's Garret roller bearing core spools faster too.

For the power your looking for i would go with the new SC38 B Billet as the SC42 seems to box above its weight, and may be too much for your needs mate.

The GT30 wont work on a 2.0ltr engined car matey and will be too laggy, from those two choices it has to be the SC46 all day long.

Would I not be able to run the sc42 on a lower boost and retain the quick spool at the 380-400 mark? Just trying to future proof it if that makes sense? Won't the sc38 be a bit laggy in comparison to my vf28?
