Mines going in next month to a very well repscted amd known specialist for repairs. They will cut all affected arch areas, fabricate and weld in new panels and match to existing paintwork. Not cheap by any means, but worthwhile imo since im not planning on selling the car.
As for the others, i have no idea, im still unaware of any replacment rear arch/quarters, as somebody said on the thread, the man who fabricates and produces these as a whole will be a very rich man!

As these never seemed to materialise, I thought I'd bump this and see what you guys thought of my plan.
So my rear arches aren't too bad, the outer surface has no bubbling to the paint yet so I'm hopeful that's still clean metal, it's just the inner lip underneath that the front edge of the rear bumper fixes to has rusted resulting in the bumper dropping slightly leaving an unsightly gap
I'm trying to think of an immediate repair that won't involve a complete respray of quarter panel as that will escalate the cost massively. I had thought of fabricating a new lip to support the bumper, grinding any other rust away and soaking in kurust then painting and waxoyling. Obviously this is going to all be visible along the edges of the arch from outside the car, so I thought a set of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUBARU-IMP...item3cc98588a1
Colour coded just to cover up the remaining untidy looking edge would do in the short to medium term?
All this is assuming I don't get stuck in with the dremel and end up with a rear quarter like in the pictures posted on page 2!

I have given up to this idea, or any other ideas regarding fixing the rust issue for that matter, as when I started putting prices together I couldnt get the work I wanted for under £1500. Thats replacement panels or ABW, installtion and paint done properly. So for that reason Ive going to re-shell the car soon.

Thought Id bump this thread!!
My dad has a 52 plate bugeye WRX and 1 arch seems to have some bubbling on 1 side, He has asked me to get some quotes for this to be done, but not sure what needs to be done or if anyone has had it done, and who to do it???
Any advice?? Car is mint 70k mile from new and no dents, paint is mint etc, full service etc, and he has owned it for the last 5 years, so he does not want to scrap the car if he can help it!!!

My mate was going to repair his classic rear arches with front arches, but checked out the price of new rear quarters from Subaru and they have dropped dramatcially since he last priced them (probably becuase they are making thousands of them ). He has since purchased a pair and is currently chopping his car up to fit them (he runs a bodyshop).
I am seeing him on Wednesday so will find out what he paid for them and see how the work is progressing.
His is a 1997 and he said there was a lot of corrosion to the inner wing and rear jacking points when he started uncovering it.

Went to see my mate yesterday, but he had a customer with him so wasn't able to get an idea of the price off him, but will ask him soon enough.
What I did do while I was there though was have a look at his Scoob which is all stripped down now ready for the work to begin. It's a UK car supplied new to him in 1997 and had every bodywork inspection (all stamped in the book).
I am saying that to illustrate that it has been well looked after because the amount of rust on the inner wheel arches and the rear part of the sills/jacking points is horrendous. When the car was on the road it looked like just a bit of surface rust on the arches, but what is actually behind it is very bad indeed.
He is putting new quarters on as I said so it will all be fixed properly, but as he said patching up is not an option on his car anyway. It's that bad!!!
What I wonder is how many classics are driving round with their owners thinking they are rust free yet underneath is a whole shed load of trouble waiting to appear.

Right just spoke to him. Parts prices for rear quarters
One side is £326 and the other is £348, the difference presumably being because of the fuel filler aperture. Some dealers will quote a different price, but that is the official price and what he paid from Mangolets. They used to be double that!
That said it is a massive job, I would guess a minimum of £2K so unless you really know what you are doing and can do the work yourself it's not really economically viable.... that said since when did that matter with Scoobs

A few days ago I made a wheel arch for a Subaru Legacy.
The owner of the car is very pleased with the quality.
If someone has any interest I can make a wheel arch for Legacy or Impreza.
More info on pm.

Are people still having trouble repairing these arches? I have repaired quite a few now as I have sourced an identical steel replacement arch. If anyone is after the repair with brand new steel replacement arches please get in touch for pics, pricing etc...

As I am not here to make profit I can explain to you how I carry out the repair if you like.
Basically I order in a set of brand new impreza front wings from the same model, which most people do not believe. Then the most important thing to know is the n/s front arch is cut away from the new wing and is fabricated to fit the o/s rear quarter. And o/s front arch is fabricated to fit the n/s rear quarter.
I will post pics of this procedure just to show the final outcome. You would need to find a competent fitted to do this properly as it's not a simple job to get perfect.
I have carried out this repair to both 4-door and 2-door imprezas and final outcome is 100% authentic.
If you have any questions please let me know.
