Does anyone have a dog and work a 9-5?
I would love a dog but couldn't commit to getting home at lunch for a walk etc. Would a 'less energetic' dog such as a british bulldog be bothered by this, from what i have read they are lazy gits who get tired from over-exercise so would morning/evening walks daily suffice? Would get pampered by me and the mrs when we got home thats for sure, just weighing up whether its fair on the dog or not

Dogs are sociable animals. It may not be a case of just excersise, it's how they react for being left for 8 hours.

We've been able to do it with dogs in their old age, who are content to sleep and don't notice being left so much.

We're in the same boat. Desperately love having dogs but can't take one on whilst we work all day

It does help a bit that I borrow my little Pikey Terrier at weekends and our cat thinks it's a dog!

True, thats why i was contemplating a british bulldog, given their reputation for being rather less energetic. Wouldn't contemplate a collie or jack russell type as they are always wanting to play non stop from past experience. Anyone on here own a british bulldog and can comment?

My dog's a more suitable weight. Weight makes all the difference uphill! On the flat, towing the trailer's like having a giant wind brake!

She likes a cake stop too

BasketBall lasted 30mins before it was in the bin

So many lovely dog's credit to you all.....sad to read about the losses, took me 11yrs to come to terms with my first dog lose.

Yeah, we do - thankfully we have a dog walker that we trust so she still gets her 'lunchtime' walk every day during the week if we're not in. Sometimes I'm home before the dog if I'm back early as well. Think its good for her as she runs around in a pack with a few other dogs, so gets to burn off energy and socialise, etc. which is important as well.

I think she would go a bit stir crazy in the house all day - I probably would myself
