The downside of grooved discs is usually a rumbling noise under hard braking , you shouldn't hear or feel it under slow driving , those with the low speed noises , have you cleaned out the calipers or muck and dust before fitting the new pads , copper slip is a good idea where the pistons touch the pads , and the ends of the pads where they fit into the calipers , it sounds like the pads are tight in the calipers , or the pads aren't flat in the calipers allowing the leading edge of the pads to dig into the groove , you should not be able to feel as though you can feel every groove touching the pads , this is why we groove our discs with a curved groove

Cheers for that Ian, I'll get the garage that fitted them to take a look at the calipers.
I've been listening out for this and it seems like the noise is mainly coming from the front right, so it may be limited to 1 caliper.
I've recently fitted the Godspeed grooved disks and kevlar pads to mine, and can't hear them at all. Still bedding them in though, so no hard braking yet! When I removed my old pads (Delphi I think) the slot cut in the pad itself was at an angle, so if that happened to correspond with a groove i guess that might make a noise when the two passed over. Original disks were solid so I didn't notice any noise but if they were grooved then that might have been noisier I guess. Also, I think the curved grooves on the disks help minimise the noise, a bit like helical gears
Just to contribute,I had all my brakes changed the other day.Type R with aztec brake tech mini grooved front discs,and Godspeed grooved rears.Ebc pads and a brake fluid change to dot 5.
Been bedding them in for a few days now and they're silent,most impressed with them.I'm looking forward to giving them a workout when they're ready.
I've recently changed to grooved discs and Orangestuff pads and noticed a 'whirring' sound. It only ever happens if I'm stopping from high speed. No sounds at all from anything under 50mph unles you have to stand on them to stop quickly.
