Default anti puncture tyre slime

Anyone here used that anti puncture tyre stuff on there bike ?? dont seem to here a lot about it which is strange as I am sure for a bike anyway it could be a real help with not having a spare tyre with you !!!

any idea how much you would require for two tyres and is there any downsides to the stuff ie. effect handling etc ??

Never had to use it but I have heard that it can throw the wheel way out of balance. Just think - a large lump of the slime gets stuck in one place.
Also, the tyres are shot after use. Get one of the mechanical type repair kits that have compressed gas cylinders to blow the tyre back up. I've heard that the BMW one is good - here at BMW Motorcycle Spares - Motobins Ltd -

BUT do some googling to confirm.

Hi, I put it in the front tyre of a Trials Bike so not that fast, and it was awefull, I had to replace the tube straight away, as said, it throws the ballance out, and you are unable to adjust the pressure because it seals the valve, so it does work I just carry a can of repair spray to get me home. If your bike is tubeless then there are several good repair options from places like M&P and Busters Hope this helps Mike

I've used it for the last 10 years or so on road and track bikes with varying degrees of success. I've never had it throw anything out of balance, never had it cause problems of any other sort, never had it seal the valve. Just fit and forget. It's important that you read and follow the instructions to the letter, though, as that's what stops problems arising.

HOWEVER

The results I've had avoiding punctures have varied from phenomenal success to, frankly, a waste of time and effort. And that's with several brands.

The best results were with Ultraseal, where I guess 3/4 of the time it did what I expected and I just found a wee blue splat on the tyre where it had sealed a hole.

I'd recommend it but it's a qualified recommendation. It won't do any harm but it may not do any good either...

SB

PS Ultraseal doesn't knacker the tyre either - I've had tyres repaired after using it without problem. It just wipes off until it has cured.

carry the holt tyre weld, used it a few times, top stuff as it also inflates the tyre, the slime stuff coats the tyre so if you get a puncture you simply don't know about, dangerous i think, use the holt imho
