Copy and paste works for me, you may have an issue with your PC/Laptop.

I'm using Chrome, wouldn't touch IE with someone else's.

How are you copy/ pasting?

With the mouse (right click)?

Or are you using the hotkeys?

( Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V for those old farts that still remember MS DOS ).

PS, I'm more of a firefox man myself.

Next time it does it:

Instead, try highlighting the address (or text, or whatever),

Then, press ctrl+C (hold ctrl, then whilst still holding press C, the realease both keys ).

Then when you want to paste, just press Ctrl+V

If that doesn't work either, then I'm out of ideas

IE8 is the last version of Microsoft's browser to run on XP, you cannot install IE9 (their way of helping to finally kill XP - the OS that will not die).

IE8 was an OK browser in its day (despite the usual bollocks you read from people who in reality know little of what they are talking about), but it is now getting left behind with the way the web is developing so yes I woul say it is time to decamp to Chrome, Opera or Firefox.

You will find them a lot faster and more compatible with the modern web.
