Needing a wee bit of advice lads, my dad managed
to scratch my dash (trying to slide his seat forward
whilst gripping onto the vent). Anyway has anyone got
a trick of the trade to darken the scratches by any chance ??
I've tried liberally applying PB Natural Look Dressing and also Autosmart
Highstyle but it's not much better. Knowing exactly how plastic-ey
the dashes are on these cars what would the next attempt be, I thought
maybe a dark grey touch up pen applied / rubbed in with my finger ??

Craig how deep is the scratch and exactly where on the dash is the scratch?

It runs diagonally down and to the right of the circular
window vent on the passanger side (the vent on top of
the dash). It's prob about 0.5 ~ 1mm deep; it was done with
fingernails so not that deep. It did lighten when I drowned it
in a couple of products then buffed off
but it's still visible. I've got a guy coming over to have a
look at it, I think he can take a mould of the dash 'grain'
effect and patch it over the scratch somehow. No entirely sure
how this works but will be asking him when he arrives :thumb:

Keep us posted - not a defect we know how to correct, so it would be great to know if this works. Polishing plastics can be a nightmare, hence why we usually avoid it (unless dealing with hard glossy plastics, such as headlight covers, piano effect trims, etc - these are easy). :)

I used Swissvax Cleaner Fluid on a dash scratch which softened it really well. I didn't want to over apply it just in case I smoothed the grain on the plastic if you know what I mean.

i have a man arriving next week to do some demos on plastic dash repairing, as i am looking into buying a kit myself

you can pretty much repair most things, my knowledge of how its exactly done is a bit lacking at the moment (which is why i am getting the demo lol)

but you can take a mould of the dash grain and use the new mould to "regrain" the plastic elsewhere (after it has had some sculpted out and filled in with a kind of filler)

its them a simple job to blend in some new topcoat plastic over the top

same general idea as a standard plastic bumper repair.

not really a DIY option, but any decent S.M.A.R.T repairer shoukd be able to sort it
