Web clips are new and should be much better than Safari bookmarks.
I'm using a unlocked 1.1.1 version, this update and the SDK that's out next month has made me consider going legit. If there's one in my local shop tomorrow I'm taking out a contract.

Do you mean v2 software or hardware? There hasn't been any official notification as to when a new iPhone will appear, but I'd guess we'd have official info and/or a release at about year after the US model started shipping, though I could see that sliding until when the euro model was shipped.
They haven't even released the SDK for the current iPhone yet, so they will want to see what people can do with that, and thus what features they could put into the next iPhone. It's expected to ship in Feb, so give it at least two months after that for final releases of third party apps for the iPhone.

I bit the bullet and went legit, I'm already missing Terminal, Blackjack and the Slot Machine, but I think I'll get over them.
The location service for Maps is good, but Navizon was more accurate for my house at least.
The transition from hacked to legit was very easy, all of my settings, etc. were transferred over without question. Just waiting for my number to change now.

Well got to say I've had my Iphone since a couple days after launch and so far been totally impressed with it. My old Sony was on its last legs so the launch came at the right time, otherwise I probably would have waited.
The cameras no where near as bad as the Gadget Show made it out to be and actually takes better shots than my wifes samsung phone, which has a higher mpixel rating. The display is v.good and browsing through the library works incredibly well.
The general interface and touch screen work real well and having 'full' internet ability (as opposed to mobile internet browsing) means I actually use it instead of my home desktop for browsing these days. Particularly like the way Safari integrates into the phone - for example Googled the number for local swimming pool last weekend, clicked on the pool's webpage and by clicking on the tel. number the webpage the phone automatically dialed the pool.
Aspects / features Apple do need to address to make it perfect in my eyes...
Cant send MMS texts (but get around this using Gmail)
No ability to set ipod system to switch off after 15 mins (like an ipod sleep timer)
No movie recording ability (even my 3yr old Sony had this!)
No Messenger (get around this using Beejive)
Obviously no 3G yet.
Plus the obvious tie-in to O2 contract for legit use.
With the SDK going out to devs in Feb should be a good year for the Iphone. Cant see them bringing out #2 just yet until they've reaped the rewards of this model
