Default COM surrogate, this is causing my fan to go ballistic + high useage.

Any ideas what this COM surrogate is, whenever it appears in my process the fan on my laptop goes like crazy, its using over 50% in the process.

Com surrogate is usually a codec error, have you installed any recently or any new media players?

I had this on my computer (Vista Ultimate) a while back, it drove me nuts.

I updated Realplayer to the latest version and downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia. This solved the problem for me.

Ive just updated Realplayer to version 11.1 the latest one, my Nvidia drivers are upto date abd its still the same. The only thing ive put on my laptop of late is some software called Aimersoft dvd studio pack which is basically a dvd ripper and file converter, i havn`t put any new players on apart from Realplayer whioch ive just updated to the latest version.

Ive also added Diskeeper recently but i can`t see it being that which is causing the problem but then again i`m no expert in this area.

Thanks for the link Jerry, unfortunately that didn`t work either.

I`m not actually getting the Com Surrogate error appearing, whats happening is when i use certain things like photobucket uploader Com Surrogate is appearing in my task manager as using 50%, its not actually throwing up any errors as yet as its more that my fan is going crazy with the high useage.
