From experience (and i leave the mapping to the likes of Pat who know what they are doing) a flat boost curve gives a far smoother driving experience when on the road. I am being fairly simple here (as it's the way i think when it comes to cars) but when you have a car capable of 400+, every 0.1bar change of boost, can change the power level by quite a significant margin!
For example, mine at 1.9bar made 562bhp, at 2.1bar it made 592bhp. You can feel the difference driving it. So crudely on my car 0.1 equated to a 2.5% increase. From memory, the torque difference was even more.
Lower down the boost curve, again from memory, 0.1bar change made an even bigger change. My car a few years ago made 400 at 1bar.
Now imagine you have fluctuating boost control, lower down the power scale, and you suddenly get bigger percentage increases in power and torque!
Translate that to a road feeling and you get an awful drive.
Solaris on mine is a flat line at 2 bar - with the take off for the boost control now at the centre on the manifold. The previous siting of the vacuum take off for the map sensor did pulse a little.

could you post up a photo of the swtich set up where they are etc, planning on getting this ecu fitted in feb when i get a new lump from RCM
Scoob is with Chy at Pennine currently being finished off so sadly will not be able to take pics. Both swithes are side by side on the ashtray lid itslef. This way it's nicely tucked away but still fairly easy to operate. Ofcourse, this means that your astray becomes a no entry really as the wiring is from the inside. I have a couple more switches to come on so will need to think where these will go!
It will be interesting to see how the Solaris plays when it gets mapped on the new build in a couple of weeks time.
JP if I go down anytime soon I can take some pics of the switches, if that is ok with you?
Banny
No probs m8 - feel free Banny seeing you are not too far from Chy's. Can you please also do me a favour by taking a pic of the whole dash as I need to decided where the ETG will go! PM this one to me fella

Not personally had any problems with SimTek boost control when using a decent 3 port solenoid, Turbosmart solenoids are nice and cheap and do the job perfectly.
I had simtek fitted last oct by simon and have had no problems with boost control the cars runs really well and holds boost all the way round the rev range on my classic
Ok thanks mate, will post up closer to the time to figure out where most people have there new added toys fitted . feb really seems a long way off
thanks

No probs m8. Hopefully Banny will be able to take a pic or two when he visits Chy's place in due course. Seeing the switches on pics will be better than trying to visualise by description.
So got a couple of sprints behind me now on the solaris,3 first in class and 2 class records. The car pulls much better and alot smoother, managed a 1.95 60ft start on road tyres on smooth tarmac which is completely different to drag strip tarmac. And at Aintree managed a 47.05 which was a new record again for me.Bring on more power!
