'twinturbo' on the yahoo groups legacy-b4 has done it or something similar. Here's his web site http://au.geocities.com/twinturbosubaru/

Fitting one will give you the same boost limit for both primary & secondary modes. The ecu in most BG5 revisions will keep the boost lower in the primary mode possibly to avoid the dreaded overspooling of the primary. Each revision has a slightly different turbo setup - see my file EJ20.html on legacy-b4 group. Different revisions might be more or less susceptible to overspin. What's the model number of yours?

If you do it I think the same caveats that apply to Imps apply also but maybe more so; ie fit a Knocklink or similar and a boost gauge as a minimum and maybe even egt & afr if you want to increase boost. Remember the ecu cant reduce boost once you've fitted a Dawes.

The advantages are same as Imps - more boost if you want it and possibly more stable boost control than with the 2-port boost solenoid.

I don't feel like risking it, but I'm looking at electronic options.

How are you getting on with 5th gear mod?

Duncan
