VF29 on MY98 PPP ECU?
How will the VF29 perform using a MY98 PPP ECU? Will it cause massive lag without a remap? Have a Walbro 255 and the usual MBC, H&S downpipe, induction etc. Stock 380 ccm injectors though.
I've been reading through some threads, and understand that the 380 ccm injectors is a limiting factor - causing leanout at high RPMs and possibly detonation. My plan is to run 1.2 bar mid range, then reduce to 1 bar above 5500 rpm. I have access to a LM1 Wideband meter, so I can verify the AFR at different loads/boost pressures.
Is it perhaps safer to use the stock MY98 ecu, as this will run less aggressive timing?
This is a temporary solution, as I have plans for a 2.5 conversion. In other words not a catastrophy if my engine dies, but it should at least survive the forthcoming season. I plan to reuse my heads for the conversion though, do they usually survive e.g. a piston melt down? If not, that would be somewhat...bad.
I soon have Whiteline's complete parts catalog on my car, it is extremely annoying that the more powerful pass me on the straights - only to limit my speed in the twisties (track days, not public roads).

Well you are going to need an aftermarket ecu when you fit the 2.5, so why not buy, fit and map one now? I don't think your engine would last very long without one.

Edit: So much for that plan, Apexi Power FC and 550 ccm injectors on its way from Nengun. All reusable for the 2.5

I once had a standard ECU running 2.5, APS induction, 550cc injectors.
The APS induction did a good job of rescaling the MAF for the injectors. The fact there was a 2.5 didn't really make any appreciable difference to the fuelling, and it retarded the ignition timing for the same boost level, which is just what the 2.5 needs.

Whats the difference between a PPP ECU and a normal MY98 ECU??. I too have a MY98 running a VF29 at 1.2 bar peak 1.1 hold, a DP, STI I/C and Walbro pump is also fitted using the standard ECU. According to my AFR the car runs actually fat at high speeds.
