What do you think??

As I haven't seen another OEM lightened flywheel just wanted to see if this is the correct way to machine it.

The company I used are an engine building company and I asked for them to lighten the flywheel to what they thought was safe.

I have weighed it on my bathroom scales and it registers about 7.5kgs
I did tell them to make the weight about 8kgs as I have heard this is a safe weight for the OEM.

Any thoughts

Not one of ours I don't think. But 7.5 is about where it is usually. We generally end up about 7 - 7.5 Kg's. This is due to the mass [ density ] of the casting, so they all come up different.

We aim for 7 Kg's. We like to leave a bit of meat on for another skim or so in the future, should it become necessary.

6.7 Kg's is the homologated weight for a GC8 flywheel, if I recall correctly.

It'll be fine - It looks OK, from those Hi Def pics you supplied.

PS how many threads do the clutch cover bolts go in by? We usually leave a thicker band in that area, so you get full penetration of the bolts. That looks like it might be a bit thin............

yes but did you get it balanced?

Yes it was balanced.

There are 8 threads left in the flywheel for the clutch cover to attach to.

I will have it running again on the weekend so I will let you know how it is and any difference.
