yes its still the original diff in there, would you have any good second replacements in stock? (Diff is rattling and knocking - was sold some contaminated gear oil in case you ask how i've manged to damage a plated diff lol)

The AR180 diff is bigger than the AR160 and if you want to satisfy yourself as to which one you have, measure the top bolt centres.
Funnily enough the AR180 has 80mm bolt centres and the AR160 has 60mm bolt centres. :)

I should have said that as David says, if it is an R180 plated diff then after a while they do need the lash taking up for them to function satisfactorily or for plates to be replaced. Using the WRONG oil in these does not help either.
Do not use the same oil as you would use in the common viscuous diff. Oil for plated diffs has no friction modifier and is designated by some manufacturers as N.S. which I assume is non slip. Obviously plated diffs work by virtue of the plates not slipping.

ok ive definately got a R180 plated diff, whats the best oil i could use harvey? Someone recommended using a 75W90 LS oil, but brand wise what is the best, theres so many on the market, redline, millers, motul, silkolene, etc

we would normally use a Millers "LS" oil in all type-R's..............
