Question Gearbox fecked, what to do?

Hi All,
My gearbox has decided to make some very strange grindin and clunking noises.
Whats my best options? Re-build it, buy second hand?

Any advice welcome on options/prices.

MY99 UK Turbo , 300ish bhp

Thanks in advance

Dont fit 2nd hand, had mine done a yr or so ago and just change oil in the rear diff and box only to find lumps of swaf or metal (5mm in rear diff 1" in gearbox) and mines only 240bhp so my next option would be to uprate.

at 300 the standard box will cope just about, rebuilt it will prob last a good while. so depends what your future modding plans are, if you want to go for power then might be worth uprating it, i did with mine to a ppg straight cut box

I now have two boxes, and would like to rebuild one myself... anyone know where to get the different parts from?

Will it still be ok to use whilst it's doing this or will it damage other things? Not been used since it started doing it. I know it'll eventually sieze up but got full break down cover and another car for work.

I would look for a newer secondhand low mileage box. Can be had for under £500.

If you plan on further mods then look for a 6 speed.
