Default Tyre squeal

Hi all , just bought my first scooby, its a wrx blobeye. Well impressed with the car but need some adviceon something that bothers me. Its the amount of tyre squeal on corners and roundaouts even at low speeds . Car has BCT S800 Tyres on all 4 corners and pressures are correct. Any advice would be appreciated.

Ive never heard of those tyres so Im guessing they are budget tyres that should be changed to something better a.s.a.p.

lol, mine does the same, ****e tyres Dont push it too hard as they tend to just let go. Im trying to kill mine off at the moment squeal piggy squeal.

Toyo R888's soft as hell, road legal slicks.... the only squeal is the owner when he finds they only last about 6000 miles

At £44 each for 18's they are at the bottom end of budget tyres. At a similar price level I am running ATR Sport Achilles on the wifes Octavia and rate them very highly for their low price. They're way better than the Nankangs I have on my car, wet, dry, cornering, the lot.
If money is no issue, then as Dunx says, R888 are awesome if you can cope with replacing them regularly and being very scared in the wet. Similarly the RE070 I ran on my old Scooby which did 20k road miles and 3 full track days were astounding in the dry, scarey in the wet and noisy and harsh at all times.
Many people rate the Vredestein Sessanta as the best all weather hard driving tyre right now, right up there with the Goodyear F1 Assymetric. Uniroyal Rainsport 2 are amazing in the wet, making the wettest roads feel dry, but in the dry they squirm on very narrow tread blocks diminishing confidence. Or you could just get Toyo's like everyone else.

Try some Falken FK452's. You will not be dissapointed and not silly money either.

Avon ZZ3's just as good (if not better) than toyo proxys, and last a hell of a lot longer (harder tyre)

Great grip in all weather!

Laws are changing soon, so road legal slicks will not be allowed on UK roads

I changed to Goodyear Egale F1 GSD 3 at christmas from the Brigdestones and have never looked back an amazing all round tyre and got them at a very reasonable £80 a corner fitted.

The brdgestones in comparison were noisy and tramlined alot. They are fiited to most UK scoobys as standard due to a) dry grip and b) the cost for IM as they have a deal with bridgestone.

IMO it all depends on what you walet can handle but i have heard the Toyo's are great but just not practicle if you have to change them every 4 months on a daily driver.

Another one for either GSD3's or michy PE2 both great all rounders But these were used on a stripped out clio 172 not a scooby.

Approx £40 quid a corner

Yeah right, take them off and replace with something decent before you get wrecked.

I ran some RE-40`s on my scoob at one point and they were the best wet tyres i have used on the subaru.

Without a question, Yokohama Neova AD08, if you want to spend the cash, the Direzza star specs are also a phenomenal tyre.

On the less expensive end you could do good old Falken Azenis RT-615, these are a great less expensive tyre. The R888 are a great track tyre, but personally I think they would be far too expensive todrive around on the street. If you go with any I've mentioned, you won't regret it

well, i've got these (Toyo Proxes) on my Scoob, but these are squealing quite alot and to be honest I don't think i'm really pushing it.
yesterday even lost the backend a bit (in the dry and nice and warm), which really surprised me.

so to be honest I might be looking for different tyres....
It might be a suspension thing, but i'll start a new thread for that.

I have German manufactured GSD3s on my Classic Turbo, they're awesome in the dry and phenominally good in the wet, and they seem to be wearing pretty well so far.

Out of interest, how can a road legal slick (semi slick) be outlawed for use on UK roads if it's road legal?

Got to agree thought RE070's were good till got some GSD 3's on and it handle's soo much better fly's around bends, and feels so much sharper to drive.

I finished my last set of R888's in 5 days. £100 a day in tyre wear

RE070's are great road tyres as are Michelin Pilot Sports

If your starting to slide around that much in the complete dry, and don't feel your pushing much at all you may want to have your alignment looked at and make sure everything's ok, as well as make sure nothing is bent in the suspension.

I've been running Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetrics for the last month and they are the best tyres I've ever had. They replaced the legendary GSD-3's and are, in my opinion, even better. Fantastic in both wet and dry conditions with very low road noise as well.

I have also had Michelin Pilot PS2's as well as Bridgestone Potenza RE050's but the asymetrics are the best.

I have these tyres on my classic and boy do they hum, and no its not wheel bearings it the cheap crap rubber! changing them soon.

I had GSD3's on mine and found them to be not bad in the dry but appalling in the wet. They also tended to slide too much because of a weak side wall which meant you had to run them at fairly high pressures to get better grip - and they only lasted about 8000 miles.

I did some research, and after considering Asymmetrics, Toyos and Falken, etc. I switched to Vredesteins, and have found them to streets ahead, masses more grip than the Goodyears and still the same price - it's a no brainer.

The Asymmetrics are quite a lot more expensive than the GSD3's and tbh now I wouldn't go back to Goodyear - they're just not in the same league.

Because they are going to change some of the criteria that allows a tyre to be E-marked (and therfore road legal) which will render them non E-markable (stock up now!) and herfore not road legal anymore, however the Rally boys are fighting it as they have to have road legal competition tyres so they can drive between service park and stage etc so its a case of watch this space!

The new tyres will have to have good wet and dry characteristics, hopefully it should end all these hedge pushing tyres which dont have any wet characterisics saying that, RE070's will probably make it through as they are pretty good in the wet

I found R888's good in the wet, but poor in standing water, but at my age I'm never quick in the wet anyway....

I was actually really impressed between the difference
I wasn't a fan of GSD3's as I had them before on a Leon Cupra R
but on my Scoob they are perfect. It feels so predictable you don't
have to guess when the grip is going to give.
