Default Engine rebuild

I've got a blob sti and the engine managment light came on the other day. Just got out the garage and for some reason cylinder 3 is loosing compression, I've been told it's not the spark plugs and not coil packs. The mechanic suggested a engine rebuild or a new engine. He did first say to sell the car any help would be very appreciated if you have any ideas of prices?

If you need an engine rebuild - Alan at Engine Tuner is the guy to use. All work is done in house. I would say a rebuild drive in and drive out is about 5K

Or,

Get another STi short engine and fit it.

Be careful who you use.

maybe piston/ring you need a diagnostic test take it to a good mechanic (not back street) someone who has more then one ramp and 2 mechanics lol , there are cheaper options besides a rebuild e.g buy new pistons / rings. ring around I had a similar problem + oil loss I got my engine skimmed and replaced pistons and headgaskets for £890 its not cheap or forged but its not 5k lol

New piston is good choice instead of rebuilding the car engine but should be through skilled hand or it would be better to have a new engine to get rid of sick one and that's only by consulting with an expert car mechanic with full commitment of handling the situation very well even after the fitting for any abnormality or problem. Thanks
