Default Remote central locking not working

My remote central locking fob doesn't work on my MY00 Impreza Wagon. I've replaced the battery, but still no joy.

The battery was in the wrong way round when i replaced it.

Does anyone have any ideas of what i can do to get the fob to work?

Thanks

Copy pock as the add used to say...

My 99MY Sigma alarm failed this time last year, so maybe its the alarm not the fob - I ended up fitting the later improved one out of a 2003 WRX using advice from the megastar who I cannot name as he was banned from this site. (details available via pm)

If you change batteries it will resynch with no faffing around.

If its never been synched it won't, it needs to be synched, I have the destructions for that at home.
