looks like one of the JAWarehouse ones to me Jamie, It certainly isn't the same as one of Harvey Smiths excellent offerings, i shall post pictures for comparison in a short while.

This one would not worth the effort imo!

SUBARU WRX STI Turbocharger cartridge TD05H-20G 420BHP on eBay, also Other Performance Parts, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 12-Apr-08 11:19:27 BST)

Like you said the housing and nipples are different looking to andys one.

Yours looks like that one with the identification plate removed.

see thats what i think too and there are horror stories about the jawarehouse turbos.

if this is the case i will just have to put a dispute in with paypal ad get my money back on it.

why can people not be honest when selling something.

i will not name the person on the forum if i can get the resolution i am after with the turbo, though i have sent him 3 pms now and can see he was online this morning at 7.30 and still no reply.

doesnt look good.

I will give him until tomorrow to respond then i will have no choice but to take further action on it.

that ebay ad is a bit misleading, is it not?

fist sentence states "with Cover and 1.2bar actutor / 420~450 HP"

and 2nd sentence states "compressor housing and 1 bar actuator."

Not being an expert......

Jamie,

Here's my Harvey Smith TD05/06-20G

[url=""]

[url=""]

[url=""]

[url=""]

As you can see, this Harvey Smith turbo and the already aforementioned Andy Forrest turbo are quite different to the thing you have been sold.
I would be inclined to think that the 20g that you already have will be a step back from your Vf22!

hmmm...are standard scooby turbos usually stamped with a mitsubishi logo? or does someone else make them and they are used in Evos and Scoobys?

The td turbo's are indeed mitsubishi and were used in early lancer evo's iirc.

there should be some sort of part number on it somewhere but there is absolutely nothing on it at all.

im sure it is a fine turbo just not what i was after so sold it on false pretenses.

paypal will possibly refund my money to me, but i just want to sort it with the seller first.

I'm no expert, but did a bit of research on TD05s before settling on a TD05-16G (front entry converted) myself. IIRC, the full house 'proper' TD05-20Gs that you see from Andy F, Harvey etc. have the full size 20G housing characterised by that flatted off casting in the front, originally from a TD06 turbo. What yours is though is a smaller compressor housing, which I believe can be legitimately used for a 20G compressor wheel.

YOu can find lots of TD05-20G with that compressor housing all over the web if you look including JA Warehouse. It's just not the full-on TD05/06-20G hybrid that you were expecting.

im still not convinced. the turbo doesnt resemble any other td series turbo ive ever seen. even a td04 has writing, serial numbers and model numbers actually cast into the compressor housing but this has nothing on it at all.
i will be fitting this and i dont want to be taking it off again due to it not performing so we really want to know the truth

there should be a section on sn for name and shameing, that would make people think twice about what their selling

i asked him LOTS of questions before buying it. sent him pm's for about a week regarding the turbo, if it was genuine etc.

he told me it had just had a turbo dynamics rebuild etc.

i just want him to pm me and give me my money back then i will be happy again.

wouldnt want to have to book a return flight to england to return the turbo in person lol

Hi mate was it an ebay seller called clairetombling? If so have a look here: http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayIS...ab=AllFeedback

I hope I'm wrong for your sake but if it is you won't get more than a slanging match & it is a copy jawarehouse one. I had the pete.taylor ebay account banned & I'd love to meet him

You'll need to report to paypal asap so they can freeze funds before he has chance to withdraw.

All the best mate!

i think "silent" makes a very valid point about your turbo that you seem to have ignored,
he has explained why it looks different to the one you have!!
as much as i admire andy forests work , how would the JA WAREHOUSE still be in business if there products were no good thats assuming this is a JA unit
i will be buying a big 16g cover off them shortly to fit a td05 evo III turbo i have bought
this turbo is replacing a VF22 , spares cannot be got for these turbos

The JA items have been noted in the past for poor castings, balance and wheel to housing clearances.....
HOWEVER
If Turbo Dynamics have been involved with this rebuild then these problems should have been ironed out and the turbo with have no issues.

Ask the seller for the turbo dynamics reciept and build report and all should be fine.
It does beg the question though, why flog the unused turbo after all the expense of a decent rebuild?
