Going for 2.5, but what turbo???
Hi Scoobyfreaks
Going to put a 07 ej257 in my 1995 Wrx...
Got all mods, put what turbo to get around 400hp??
Its a dailydriver, used a bit on tracks, so dont need it to be too big!..
Thinking: td05-20 from Andy F, or some md321 ?!!
Thanks
Lars/Denmark
Ps. Planing to take it to Andy F, on a little trip

the md321h is a good turbo for reaching them figures. Running 1 myself on my 2005 sti. Perhaps go for the md321t though incase you change your mind in the future and opt for more power

The 20g is far cheaper than the MD321, but may struggle to get to 400 hp, depending on other mods.
What else is/will be fitted to the car?

Go for md321t & be done with it! Although you won't want to run anything more than 1.4 bar if you are still running the standard pistons.

Headders and uppipe from Zen, and a 3" decat from downpipe and back..
And running a Apexi Power FC..Is now maped by Enginetuner making 305hp at 1.15bar

Dont forget the gearbox and clutch, both will suffer badly with a 2.5 fitted

The 20g would be wasted on that spec.

Are you using the pre96 heads from your my95 wrx? if so i wouldn't
i did this and it Ran like a bag of ****!! as the early heads have camshafts which aren't up to the job on a ej257 .Just thought i'd let you know. Best bet is get a set of sti 3 heads.

Yeah, Paul @ Zen said that to me too. The early MY93-96 hydraulic heads suffer weird surging issues when at about 380+ bhp.
As said, need to fit phase 1.5 STi 3 or 4 jobs for peace of mind... and to 'future proof' for possible further power later on

If I decide to do the head change later on as well, then the 321T will certainly be on the cards for me too.
