Default Gearbox/Diff oil

Hi,

going to change the oils on the car, just wondering how much Gearbox oil I need? I have an 03 STi (UK car) I'm going with millers I think 75/90,should i use the standard stuff or go with the new Racing NANO oil?

also the manual suggests the same oil goes in the diff is that correct?

thanks, anything i should know before changing the gearbox and diff oils?

thanks,

Take out the filler plug on the diff before you drain it just in case it's seized. Be a bit of a bugger if you drain it and can't refill it!
I use a large syringe (50ml) and a 10mm pipe to refill the diff due to the lack of room to swing a bottle about.

Refill the gearbox via the dipstick tube. I use a funnel with a long skinny tube, do it slowly though because it over flows the funnel!!

I have a 94 WRX, unsure if amount of oil is the same but i use the same in both.
3.5l in the box, 0.8l in the diff.

If you're using the Millers CRX 75w-90, you can use it in the gearbox and diff and 5L will cover both. The gearbox takes 4.1L and the diff 0.8L.

75w-90 Gear oil

Cheers

Tim

If you haven't got a sump plug tool then a 1/2 inch ratchet does the job.

For the rear LSD cars, use the Millers CRX 75w-90NT LS or as always in Subaru diffs, the Silkolene Syn 5
