Can you cut a key from the code stamped on it?

As the Title says, is it possible to cut a key / order a new one solely using the code that is stamped on it?

The only key I do have is getting quite worn, and I am paranoid about it snapping!

I tried getting a key copied from this master, but no luck. Too worn

Pls don't advise "go to the dealer". The dealership here really is useless beyond belief.
