FMIC without remap ?
Can I fit a FMIC without any other mods? As I have just got the car I am not impressed with the top mount, its the slant type so I expect its standard and a the fins are bent so it wont be efficient . The car is a 1993 JDM WRX. I expect the turbo is standard 05 type but in the short time I have driven it , at about 3.5K comes in with a bang and off we go! this is very different form a uk car I have driven.
If I change to a FMIC , the only change will be a reduced charge temp !

That sounds normal for a JDM saloon of the year, nothing then all, the smaller TD04 is different in its power delivery.
As for adding a FMIC without remapping, thats a bit of a as it can cause you issues (some can be quite damaging to your pocket and engine).

Remap required. Nearly everthing performance wise you do to a scoob requires a map tweak. As tony says if you dont map it, it can be a costly lesson as many have found out. looks like your from paisley so Andy forrest is close for mapping and the best in the country imo..

Try getting 400bhp through a slanty top mount (fail) then fit a newage sti tmic 400bhp (possible), or hybrid fmic 400bhp (possible), obviously with supporting mods so i would say the intercooler is a lot to do with performance. As stated earlier, any mod the affects air and fuel, the map should be tweaked accordingly.. But at the end of the day its your car and your money.

I think a good quality FMIC and ECU then at the same time. Need to sort the pump as well as I don't know its history of the one that's on, if its the original it will be past its best. Keeping the boost low to see if there are any problems first. Wanting over 300 when this little project is finished. (Max of injectors). At that stage of tune reading other posts thats the max of the gearbox.

You can't remap early cars - you need to fit an aftermarket ecu or the ESL mapping board.
Cheapest option would be a Polar Performance chip. This would up your power and allow you to run a FMIC safely.

I'm pretty sure a polar performance chip won't let you run a FMIC? I have a polar chip and am going to fit a FMIC and will need an ESL board and remap to suit. Do you have anything that shows a FMIC can be used with a Polar chip??

dont mean to crash your thread ukpaisley but its the same topic!
got a 99 classic import, would you need to remap that after fitting a FMIC??
im under the impression early classics and facelifts are different ecu's??

UKPaisley needs an ESL daughterboard fitted, I believe you need an ECUTEK or simtek but I don't know if it fits into your existing ECU or replaces it? I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along soon to help

Hi, thanx for the response. My car at the moment has a very large downpipe and no cat , and a large cone K&N. With this in mind i think it unwise that I use the car on boost or at least 1/2 boost until I get a AFR run on a dyno
