Default white crystalisation of petrol?

Not directly Scooby related, but I though someone on here may know.
I took the engine out of my vw camper on the weekend, which resulted in some fuel being spilt! I noticed my hands going white (never had that before with petrol) I then noticed that the petrol on the end of the fuel hose had started to turn white and crystalise. Does anyone have any suggestions of what could cause this, perhaps the previous owner put additives in the tank?

Thanks, Rich.

Wich is exactly why you should drain (any) fuel system that is idle for a relative period of time .
Answer to your Q is its re- crystalisation from its basic chemical compound wich is crude , colour can very from white , orange , black etc etc , depending on quality of fuel , & how many additives have been added to the science
