Default EJ207: SC50 or rotated EWG GTX3071 T/S with 0.82A/R for 500bhp on 98octane

Hi all,

I have a JDM STI 2003 and I wanted your advice regarding the Garrett GTX3071R twinscroll turbo with 0.82A/R housing. I am going for the rotated option and planning to crack 400whp on 98octane . Do you think this turbo will be able to crack 400whp on 22psi+ boost? I will be running stock block but all the mods required to maximize the turbo though. Would this turbo be able to crack 400whp with a smalller hotside???

I was thinking of SC50 twin scroll (if they have any) before but I can get the GTX3071R twin scroll for cheaper and gives me some money to rotate it.
Which one of these turbos will spool quicker?

My other mods are:

Tial EWG
FMIC Intercooler and Intake
Walbro 255 L/Hr Intank Pump (upto 500hp)
Air filter
Turbo Back exhaust, headers and up-pipe
NGK spark plugs
ID 1000cc Injectors

Hi there

I would go down the route of the Single scroll Billet GTX3076 with .63AR which should make easily 500bhp with right mods, just you will need to get rotated kit(from £500 per kit, just beware of US kits which are not good for LHD cars)

Twin scroll option which you can too consider is the Borg Warner EFR range, great turbo with awesome spool up and which should make easily too 500bhp,those turbo are much cheaper than GTX range and people over in USA have great results with them

Plus would change fuel pump for Walbro 450LPH,great fuel pump which should be OK for yours needs and future upgrades,we are run 340LPH at 490bhp/480lb-ft

One of the guys from our local forum is running a sc50 and I beleive he is v happy with it, its also a standard position turbo so would save alot of potching and money iirc.

I would also opt for a different fuel pump than the walbro 255, I would be more inclined to run a HRC / RCM 340 pump but each I their own

Thanks for your reply Jura. Are you recommending the single scroll 0.63A/R hotside because it is not available in twin scroll? I wonder if anyone can make the 0.63 A/R twinscroll housing.

Yes I have been looking at the EFR range but again they are limited to single scroll (for the power output I want) unless I missed something. I am getting the custom kit fabricated so wouldnt be a problem.

Cheers for that Infected. Is he running it on a JDM 2.0l motor? or 2.5l?

Hi there

I've seen GT3076 with twin scroll housing, think Full race selling this turbo option,EFR is too twin scroll what I know(mostly are single scroll, but have too twin scroll),but have look too on the S200SX or S300SX range
