Chris, I just saw your exhaust thread. What's the update on it now? What was Jamie's solution for you?
Where's Jamie working now anyways?

Hi Ho.
So in my search for new rear brakes, today's lesson is on brake pads.
I sent an email out to Jack @ TWR and rear brake pads run $122! Yikes!
Looking @ PDM's site, he's got KVR street pads for around $60USD. That's a little bit more reasonable.
The rear brackets for the Legacy brakes run about $50-60 for the pair. The last little piece of the puzzle are brake rotors. Any idea where I can grap those as well?

You should be able to grap rotors throgh pretty much any auto parts store. Why not call a few that are local to you.

Whoa, I just watched the GT4 intro. I don't think I've ever wanted a game as badly after just watching the intro.
I liked the song too... well, the first half of it anyways.

That's what I'm thinking of doing - just calling up Lordco and see what they can grap. My father-inlaw is a mechanic and owns a garage near Chinatown. He can grap stuff from NAPA, so that's another route I can take.
I'll call Specialty tomorrow morning and see how much dem brackets are.

Just got an email back from Don. KVR rear pads are about $62 + tax. That amount, I can do. I take it they come in pairs!
Now to find some disks and brackets.

Well, I'm going to give him a ride and tell him exactly what noise I want to eliminate before I spend a grand getting an exhaust made. Jamie works Rocket Rally Racing and I assume that's Pat's company

The intro looks really nice, just that I hate starting something that I know at this point in time, I have no real time left for.
As for the concept of a beater, I don't really have that - it's either a daily driver, or a weekend car. I just hope that pretty soon my scooby will become a weekend car so I can actually have a daily driver that I don't mod

Enjoy your RS now while you're young. Or at least fix the beater 'cause you're just going to get in an accident down the road which will be more $$$ to fix.

Ah Ken.. always telling it like it is.
Almost my entire family thinks I hsoul dget rid of the beater while it is still able to run. I have 4 more days to go til my week-long vacation so I will use my RS for the rest of this week and see how the km's works out.
I really appreciate the input guys. Sunny, I was lookin at a CRX or a EG Civic Si Hatchback but I will put my RS to work first. They go for $4500-$6000 so its a considerable amount of investment, plus who knows if its gonna die soon after.
My RS needs brakepads.. Most likely will be going with the EBC Redstuff.
Edit - Not investment.. I mean a blackhole.

How much are for the EBC and who sells them?
The pads that Don has are KVR street compound. Jack @ TWR told me about $120 for the Bobcats.

Hey Penfoe, what is the shop that your father-in-law own? I have a mechanic just outside of Chinatown too!
Chris, if u have a weekend car and a daily driver, isn't the latter considered the beater?

Subie Gal has them for $81 something USD. I read its good for street as well as light autoxing (Greenstuff is just not as good, but recompositioned as well). Not that I care about the latter anymore, I just want more bite without it eating up my rotors. Gotta bleed my brakes too.
I emailed STi-mulation to see if he stocks them, that way we don't have to ship them to Point Roberts to pick up. I'm heading to Seattle next week for a little getaway but allsubaru.com is SO FAR away from Seattle.

Well, daily driver isn't necessarily a beater - if I manage to get something nice that I can live with and not mod it, that wouldn't be a beater. If it was a beater, it would barely run and cost me nothing but gas and insurance to run
'phoe - the reason why I went with Bobcat is the lack of dust, and I think it's more important for the fronts than the backs which don't get used as quickly.
