Now I just hope my driver's seat bolt doesn't fall out as I go around the corner.

But, would you want to suggest the auto or manual to him? Personally, I would think (given my limited experience w/ Subaru autos) is that the response of the slowpoke auto, 4 gears, laggy turbo and a small engine will be somewhat of a PITA. On the other hand, it's not like Subaru's 5sp is known for abuse, and, well, this guy doesn't exactally take care of his car. God knows what's gonna break before he finally understands how to drive a manual?
Which also brings up another question- considering that some of our Subarus haven't exactally stood up to abuse (or lack thereof), and this guy isn't known for taking care of cars, is a Subaru even the right car for him? He mentioned it because his gf likes it, and the gf doesn't like RSX's , which would've been my first choice for dead nuts reliability, if nothing else.
Or are Subarus simply masochistic bitches that needs to be beaten? Bruno's car seems to break less than mine, and he beats it a lot harder than I do...
The car has to be new, btw, or else there would've been a lot of other cars I would've considered.

So in other words, it should hold up to my friend's abuse? Sweet! I knew I was missing something in my relationship w/ my car... I didn't abuse it enough
Nothing to be sorry about Peter. It just seems to me like I was the only one who really babied my car and I had the most problems.

So I just came through a road block. Really uneventful this time (they didn't even stop me) but it reminded me of what happened last week...
Officer: "You know, with your plate all bent up like that you can't tell what province you're from."
Me: "Um, there's the BC flag in the middle." (According to Jaclyn I said that in a lippy tone, go figure.)
Officer: "Why did you bend it like that?"
Me: "I thought it looked cool."
Officer: "Did they give it to you like that?"
Me: "No."
Officer: "Well then why don't you go home and straighten it out so you save yourself a potential $137 fine."
Me: "Ok."

Thug - you're so lucky. I betcha if Jac wasn't with you in the car, you'd been given the probe as they pull you over.

I spose. I know she makes it a lot easier to cross the border unhassled. I've been through so many road blocks and never had a cop comment on the bent front plate. With no front plate on Betty I was told "Put it on when you get home or I'll stop you again tomorrow and write you a ticket." Usually it's like last night though, where the wave me through without even saying a word or they ask me a couple questions like "Where do you live?"
Though there was one time years ago when a cop got annoyed with me because I had to fumble around getting my wallet out of my pocket.

I take out my wallet when I'm driving. Makes it easier to pull out ID's when I'm pulled over, or whatever.
Plus that way, my ass won't be lopsided.

I keep my wallet in my front left pocket. I'm paranoid bout my wallet and pickpockets.
Plus, I have a bulky wallet. Sorta like George in Seinfeld, except mine hasn't exploded yet.

I keep my wallet in my pocket until the trip to the states for gas - for that I pull it out before I move my car out.
