http://www.dd-wrt.com will tell you much more!
Since the WRT54GL is Linux based, you can ssh into your router and turn it into a ssh tunnel using putty. That's what I do.
I believe you can also run a console-based torrent client on the WRT54G as well. I don't - I've got another device that runs my torrents.
Since it doesn't have an internal HD, you could get it to map to a network drive to download your torrents onto. But then, you'd probably have your computer turned on to access your torrents.
A nice feature of the DD-WRT is QOS - Quality of Service. I've got mine set up right now so that torrents have very low priority, and ssh and http transfers have a higher priority.
I think cachan is running it too.

Thanks Ken, before I bought my laptop, I actually did some reasearch to make sure that I have that antenna for the model number I bought. But stranger things do happen. So I will double check.

If you end up buying it I can install it for you if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I just know that the Apple Airport Extreme tofu-lookalike can do bridging, and that I don't have a big enough place to need a bridge
What's the big difference between routers of difference price? Just speed? Or other stuff like being able to hack/program them to do certain things?
Bruno, you can get 1080p for that cheap? The 3-4 brands (Sony, Sharp, Samsung, and Panasonic) I was looking at in 37-42" LCD with 1080p are all a lot more expensive than that. Surfing on TV is fun though. My buddy finally hooked up his Media Center desktop to the TV and let's just say playing CS is a whole new experience. Where did you get it?

I don't need to bridge because of the size of my place, I need to bridge because I don't have internet in my livingroom and will have a media center PC there and I also have my PS2 there, not that I need to go online with it.
The TV is a Westinghouse. I got it at Best Buy. It was on sale marked down from $1499 to $999, then it was another 10% off Sunday night because of a "Prefered Customer" sale plus there's a coupon in a PS3 brouchure they have for $100 off any 1080p TV. I didn't do that much research, but I did look at it in store before I bought it, and to me it looked just as good or better as the much more expensive ones on either side of it (Sharp and Samsung maybe?) It's got some shortcomings but I thought I'd give it a shot. Right now I'm just struggling with the DVI, but VGA and component work great.
My projector has the edge on size (70" 4:3 image vs 37" 16:9 image) but the LCD is probably superior in almost evey other way. For starters, I am able to watch when it's not dark.

UWT: Thanks for the tip! I'm doing an i-dub bbq when Joe gets back. Probably bbq and not burgers, but we'll see. And if anyone wants some applewood, let me know.

Thug - yes, you can set the WRT54GL as a bridge - thats what I did to get Intarweb access for the xbox when it was upstairs.
If you guys know of anyone selling their xbox for $100, lemme know. I want to get another xbox for upstairs for a media center. That way we can watch divx's, and dvd'd and play mp3's along with xbox games.

Hi HO! I made it to Sydney yesterday but getting online has been nuthin but trouble!! Bought a Vodafone unlimited data access SIM card so hopefully I will be able to use my phone instead of sitting at this depressing counterstrike cafe!
Rickster - looking forward to that BBQ! Returning on the 13th of Jan.

Nerco! Glad to hear that you made it down under! It's really windy, wet and cold here in Vancouver. Enjoy the summertime weather down there!

Someone snap a video of a Canadian toilet so we can compare the two!
Didn't they do something like this on Mythbusters? Or was it the Daily Planet on Discovery?

Hey Trickster, I assigned an IggPoint warning to AcquaCow. Talk about posting all the way from RIGHT field....
The rest of ya'll can read up on the thread in here:
OT News: Speeding teen in Indiana - NASIOC
Here's what I sent to him:
Quote:
but I'm not.
You might want to brush up on your NASIOC rules, such as:
#16 - Please always try and be considerate of your fellow NASIOC members.
I find it interesting that you decided to post your "wtlw" post in VIC - a forum that you infrequently participate in actively. A quick search on the board - specifically within the VIC forum - the last time you posted a comment within a thread was way back November of 2005 and posts before that are dated in 2004 having a whopping total of 13 posts within VIC.
While I encourage people outside of the Greater Vancouver area to participate in the discussions in the forum, replies like the one here are NOT welcome.
Enjoy your stay on NASIOC and within VIC.

I am too nice. Thanks for the backup. Would you be available this weekend so I can get my crap out of your basement? How'd the wheel sale go?
Necro: Y'know the first thing I thought was, "I wonder how they'd taste."
