Question

Dear all,
I have an STi5 with the std. stereo and I'm now pretty bored of having little to no radio reception etc.
The frequency expander just isn't good enough!
Are there any reasonably priced alternatives to this system?
I'm not too interested in high power amps or changing the existing speakers. Are std. speakers any good?

Any help & details of prices / availability etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Tim

Gavin,
Thanks for your help on this. They both look pretty sexy.
Does anyone know of any other slightly cheaper alternatives?

Kind regards,
Tim

Tim,

I read my original post and it seems a bit vague.... too much sherry obviously

Go out a buy a copy of "Max Power" or "Redline" - they have lots of audio suppliers listed in the back of the magazine.

Single-DIN units are quite cheap and a good upgrade - i.e. Kenwood KRC377R RDS face-off Radio/Cassette £110 ish - Kenwood KDC462 6-disc changer £130 ish.

It may be worthwhile getting them fitted professionally as imports do not have the standard connections.

"Autoleads" provide a loom to attach European ICE units for £10 approx - you can of course, do this yourself.

The dash cutout is also the wrong size apparently - so getting a dealer to fit a unit will save you significant grief - the guy who fitted mine said it was a pain to do.

Kenwood were doing a promotion of professional fitting for 1p - I don't know if they are still running it.

The Addzest speakers are of reasonably good quality - and shows the standard head unit is not very good (especially the one that was in my car).

Thanks

Gavin
