The 5.25' Rear speakers are factory fitted via adaptors. I am interested in installing 6.5' speakers in the rear. Unfortunately I was not able to obtain original 6.5' adaptors from the manufacturer. Has anyone experienced this problem?
Has anyone obtained 6.5' adaptors?

Hi Allan!

I don't know how much help it is, but I've fitted JBL P-923 6" x 9"'s in the back of my car, but they didn't require any adaptors at all! A good installer can fit these reasonably quickly without removing the back seat too. No physical changes were required to the car itself.

Any good?

Stef.

Yeah, I got some JBL 6x9's too - straight forward fit and usually fitted free by the suppliers if you buy a bit of kit from them - othewise expect to pay no mroe than 25 quid for the shop to fit them or get on of those mobile fitting services like the idiot on the Yellow Pages advert.

One nice touch (which I've just ordered) is a moulded to fit fibreglass, carpeted, bass box made by Auto Audio in Manchester. Fits nice and snug into the left corner of the boot - 150 quid for the box and around 130 for a mega 12" sub. Will stay put and takes up less room than a mamma box. One of he motor mags did a review last month (Fast Ca I think).

I want to install rear speakers to a MY99. After asking around the only way that it is being done is by removing the back seat. I would appreciate if anyone that knows how it is done without removing the back seat could explain the procedure.

I fitted JBL T595 6x9s (absolute monsters) and had to disassemble the speaker as well as enlarging the holes to get them in.
Can't see how you could remove the original speakers without removing the "parcel shelf" - and this requires seats out and trim removal. This is not a big deal and is in the FAQ. I followed this and presto !

Dobbo !! Your subworx box will be for the RIGHT HAND SIDE ! Read my other thread "box sizes" for some more info.
