Unhappy

Hi All,
I do a lot of motorway driving and have noticed that the interference from the outside is louder than normal cars???
I was wondering if there is anything I can do to stop the interference eg, dynamats etc and which is the best ones to use.
I was thinking of using it on the doors (4 door saloon) and the boot.
Have anyone done this and have you notice any positions (frt doors/boot/rear doors) which quiet the car the best???
Regards,
G.

Ask most people on here and they'll say "Dynamat" every time...:-)

Of course, it ain't cheap - there are other options, try Halfords.

Hi there,

ScoobyDoc and I were sound-deadening his doors today with Dynamat "Extreme" I think - is it Extreme ScoobyDoc?

It sounded quite expensive £22 for just enough to do the key areas of the doors. It seemed a little better quality than the stuff I got from Jon at

John has soundproofed a fairly large area in his front doors with his bargain material. He has used several layers and he has reaped the benefit in terms of bass and his doors shut with the thud of an audi!

Overall effect on road noise - probably minimal. Depends on the area you cover. Some people even do their roof!

To me, road noise seems to come largely from wheels and scoobysport exhaust. Dunno if it would be worth dynamatting the wheel arches (inside the car) or investing in further underseal for these areas.

I put a load of underlay in my boot which killed quite a bit of the noise from Scoobysport...

Nick

I think you are right about the wheelarches and road noise.

Has anybody lifted the carpets? Doing the roof is another pssibility. Surely it would be easier to put the dynamat on the outside and pretend that vinyl roofs are back in fashion!

But seriously. Does anybody know how diificult it is to lift the carpets?
