Sound Proofing

Has anyone used Accumat (Scosche) or Dynamat or similar ? Does it work and is it worth the cost/weight ? I've been told that the front doors benefit from a good coating to allow the speakers to work more effeciently. Would someone enlighten me ? ta lee

I have a similar product in my car. The bass sounds tighter, and the wing mirrors don't vibrate!!

It DOES stop the metal panel vibrating, and hence the speaker works in a more solid 'cabinet'.

That aside, just tapping the rear door (no sound deadening) it sounds hollow. Tap the front door panel, with the material added, and it sounds muted. Not metallic vibrating noises!

It's good stuff, you won't regret it!

I went to a stereo shop in Guildford, who also installed all my old stereo. The shop was..

Also I know you can get similar stuff from Demon Tweeks, I think they charge about £15 for a 2' x 4' sheet.

Go to any decent stereo shop and they should be able to get it in for you.

Well, bought a roll of Dynamat for £15. Cut it in half (horizontally) and stuck it in the front doors.

Also glued a sheet of 1" thick foam behind the door panel trim to try and get rid of some rattling. (Nightmare getting the panel back on - the foam is just too thick !)

Incidentally I had to remove a 3" square piece of similar material - Subaru's attempt at deadening ?

Certainly, if you tap the doors there is no more tinny-ness, but I'm not sure there's a difference from the speakers. Without being able to quickly switch between the 2 scenarious I'll never know, but hey I've done it, the front speakers are (still) ace and the system is getting better now it's been run in (just like the scoob engine )
