I currently have a Scooby MY00 with a Sony CDX4850R Head Unit and Alpine 6X9 rear speakers.
My local car spares shop has some Infinity Kappa 60.1s on offer. Does anyone know the difference between these and the current model (60.2s)?
How easy are they to fit to a Scoob? I've previously fitted a pair of cheap Kenwood speakers so I know how to take the door panels off, etc.
Do the speakers fit into the existing plastic pods? - i.e. are the mounting holes in the right place and is there enough depth?
Where is the best place to mount the crossover units?
Will the tweeters supplied fit in the existing tweeter holes?
The other Infinity speaker the shop is selling is a 62.1i which doesn't have the crossover units etc. These are a lot cheaper but were a lot deeper. Has anyone fitted these?
If I went to a specialist Car Audio shop roughly how much would I have to pay to have them fitted?
As you can see I don't know much about car audio! - so any advice very much appreciated,
Thanks,
Ian.

I have fitted Infinity 605CS with external crossover under the door trim in a little hollow between woofer and tweeter. Certainly fitted straight in with supplied adaptor ring, no mounting depth problems. Tweeters just stick on behind the factory panels - lots of space! I know they're not the same as the ones you're looking at (£88 but sound great even with 150W RMS amp) but might help with comparison. Infinity website has some tech details.
Many thanks for the reply. I've been and bought the speakers (60.1s) on the understanding that if they aren't suitable I can return them.
I didn't get any adaptor rings with the speakers - do you think I will need some?
Your suggestion for the place for the crossover units sounds good. They are about 100 X 75 X 35 mm - do you think they will still fit in this place? Did you fix the crossover units in or just rest them in place?
It's only REAL SPL if you can actually SEE the spoiler move not just hear it - and no cheating by looking through the rear view mirror - any old ICE monkey can get that moving
Would love to hear this system ScoobyDoc - how about you bring it round and we cook you something - email me.
The adaptor ring interfaced the setup so that there were three screw holes available at 120 degree increments to fit factory spacer (although didn't measure). That's a good deal you've got there Ian. My Inf's are 6.5" and fit easily. I think ScoobyDoc's were the same when we removed them to soundproof his doors
I think the crossovers will fit, although they sound SLIGHTLY bigger than mine - they rest on blu-tak onto a convenient 2cm flat bar in the door - need to trim splashguard again. Blu-tak also for tweets. Nothing has moved even so. I put new speaker wire onto the tweeters, and all the way from the x-over to the amp in the boot with no interruptions - please replace the rubbish factory wiring to get the most from your nice speakers.
