Hi, does anyone else think that the standard phillips stereo on a MY99 sounds crap ?
Mine sounds tinny and irritating.
Is it the speakers or the head unit thats the problem. I have a Kenwood Mask stereo I'm considering putting in and leaving the existing speakers, is this the answer.
Your comments would be very welcome.

My friend changed his MY99 Phillips for a Sony Minidisk, and it sounded pretty good with the standard speakers. Although that said, sounded much better after we changed the speakers, added an amplifer, oh and sub!!!

Changed the headunit, and keep the standard speakers. But have the upgraded speakers ready!!!

After waiting 12 months for delivery of my new scooby I was amazed at the pitiful quality of the ICE. I changed it within a couple of weeks to a Sony CD with a view to upgrading the speakers later. It's been a couple of months since then and I find the sound such an improvement on the original that I haven't so far got around to changing the speakers...

Richard or .. Lambo?!...

You are right. This will at least me an improvement.

If you flick back through all the ICE posts you will have hours of entertainment and get all the answers you need.

You could even do a search

The only good things to say about the Philips are that it comes out easily, fits perfectly in the loft and has better RDS than my Nakamichi....oh dear.

Cool

Yes its the Philips thats crap, changed mine for an Alpine single CD and the quality with the standard speakers (MY00) is fine. Get a decent one then when you sell the car just take it out and refit the Philips crap.
Mines in its 3rd car.
