Question

When opening the doors on my MY93 WRX, the interior light doesn't come on. I assume it gets dark in Japan, so I can't imagine it's not possible. The 2 switches on the roof to turn the lights on work, so why not when the door opens?

I do have the drivers manual, but it's in Japanese. While I'm here, is there anywhere where I can get a translated copy?

I have a Japanese contact who I could ask to translate certain parts (but not all of it). Mail me the text you want translated and I'll get it done for you.

Re the lights, I assume you have the switches on the doors as per the euro ones?

I'll get back to you WRT the Japanese text.

However, the switch in the door seems to work - an annoying noise happens if the ignition is on and the drivers door is open. I wouldn't mind knowing how to switch this off. I think I'm clever enough to notice the door is open!

Cheers,
Jerome.

Does it work with the passenger door? If so swap the switches over.

My 93 WRX lights up with all 4 doors.

Have you checked the bulb, fuses and switches ??

There are 2 interior lights (one for each front seat) just behind the rear view mirror. They both work when using the manual switches. But neither come on when any of the 4 doors are opened. Still puzzled.

They're map reading lights. The only one that's supposed to come on when you open the doors is the one in the middle of the roof (i.e. between the front seats and the rear)

Unhappy

Finally found the correct light last night, and it was switched off. I've now switched it on and it works fine. At least I only made myself look stupid in front of a couple of thousand people instead of one bloke at a garage.

Thanks for all the help - and resisting the temptation to take some serious bodily fluid.
