Has anyone had much experience of the Stepper Motor Peak Series Gauges? I was wanting Defi's really, but priced them up on the Revolution Website, and they come in at just under £900.

I know they won't be as good as Defi's, but are they ok? Work ok?
I have just has the boost, oil pressure and oil temp gauges fitted, there are pics in members gallery.
R Spec is a great company to deal with, I got them fiited by some specialists that I know, there was a problem with the oil temp gauge, which turned out to be the sender, but David at R spec was really helpful and paitent!. All gauges work perfectly now and look great, check out my pictures.
the sender is the bit in the engine that gives the reading, I'm not sure, the signal wasn't getting through to the gauge, but R spec were very helpful and sorted it out for me. The sandwich plate allows you to get oil temp and pressure at the same time
I haven't fitted mine yet but will let you know when i do they're prosport steppers.
The defis sound expensive, i always though these were about £500 ish new?
Also the sandwich plate is a must, you have to take off the oil filter, screw the plate on then replace the oil filter with a new one. the oil temp and oil pressure sender wires connect to the sandwich plate to give you your readings.
I called in to see David from R-Spec over the weekend after a problem with an oil temp sender which I didn't buy from him. Vast amount of stock off the shelf and very helpful, he said they provide full backup and warranty from the UK if you ever need it. Suggest you call him for a chat.

I'm new to the scooby scene,got a '54 plate sti at easter,and i fitted 3 blue stepper gauges and the sandwich plate all by myself,and trust me i aint no mechanic!! It took me about 5 hrs,its quite easy,just fiddly running the wires,but its well worth the effort.
I have Defi's and in hindsight I would use these instead. Very accruate and ability to monitor two variable on a single gauge to keep number of gauges down.

You dont have to have the sanwich plate,you can use the oil pressure switch under the alternator and the blanked off hole on number 3 cylinder under the intercooler,but they are a lot harder to do.As for the size of the sandwich plate give Dave at r-spec a bell and he will sort it for you
I am completly p***ed off, spent the whole day trying to fit these gauges in my car and nothing is working. Cant even get the lights on the gauges to light up. I've connected all the cables up, red to perm live, black to earth, orange to lights and white to ignition. When I put the electric screwdrive on the wires that clip into the back of the gauges it lights up, perm all the time, then turn the ignition on and it lights up when I touch the white and same with the orange. So I CAN NOT see why they are not lighting up. I replaced the old pressure sensor with another connector which is attached to a t-piece about from scooby bits, then put the new pressure sensor on the top of that and then the old one on the side. Connected all the wires up and still nothing. Cant see anywhere where I put the oil temp sensor either. I've give up now, the car is in bit and so is my head. What a waste of a day, Nothing on this car is easy!

Are you using a sandwich plate? As for the gauges not lighting up make sure the wires that go into the back of the gauges are pushed right in tight.If they still dont work could be a faulty set of gauges,but i doubt it.My gauges are the blue stepper motor ones not the peak ones you have but i'm assuming they are similar to fit.
Not using a sandwich plate was told not to. Where did you wire your wires too? I did mine to the radio? Is this ok or shall I try wire them somewhere else.

The earth i was using off the radio wasn't every good, must have a break in it somewhere, so once I connected the wire to a secure earth they all lit up
Just got back from R-Spec. Collected some warning/peak stepper motor gauges and a sandwich plate adaptor thingy. I know, might not use it but need to read some genuine reasons why not to use one first.
Arranged to pop over this afternoon and wasn`t disapointed at all. David is a bloody nice chap
He showed me a gauge working and took me through everything that`s supplied. Had a chat about other products they sell as well. Gauges look very nice and customer service is spot on.
They will be at JapShow tomorrow with their range of gauges.
I fitted a sandwich plate with my gauges mate and have had no probs whatsoever,accurate readings,no oil leaks and easy to fit.I really don't know why so many people dislike them on here.
To bring this to the top again, I was looking at the gauges at the Jap show and thinking of getting these as I can't justify the Defi prices (even tho I have the Defi boost gauge!)
Whats the best to get Mechanical or Electrical gauges ?
Just going to get the Oil Temp / Oil Press / Exhaust temp and maybe the boost gauge (so i'd be selling the Defi one and meter)
Do you need to but the sender units separately or do they come with all the parts for a direct fit?
wired mine up to the ignition barrel, 2nd stage on ign, if you wire up to anything that comes on 1st stage on key every time to start the engine they will go back to start up proceedure,
also the boost senor sender unit, fit behind the dash lads, do not put in engine bay, you have been warned lol
