Can someone please tell me whats involved with changing a steering wheel? Dealer told me it would cost about £1000 to change my MY97 to a Momo My98/99 is this about right as it seems hell of a lot? Would I be better off buying a wheel from Halfords or other and forget about the airbag?

I changed my MY97 big Gay bus wheel for a Momo wheel. Connected the airbag myself no problem. Grade A subaru breakers sold me mine for £250 with the airbag plug. Only drama was the old one is three wired and the new one two ( Grade A can advise ). Don't be put off by people who say its dangerous because I nearly was. My local dealer thought I was a nutter. ( probably right )
Took about 20 mins to change was a bit wary of connecting the bag back up but I had no problems at all.

Cheers Jay

PS I accept no responsibility if you decide to take my advice and it blows up in your face LOL.

If you decide to do it Pete, let me know how you get on. I've been thinking of changing the truck steering wheel in my Cat as well

Hi Jay.

Can you give me more details on what exactly you did, as I've spoken to a guy in Subaru HQ Technical Dept. who wanted to change his but he told me it was impossible to do.

Can you let me know Grade A Tel. no. or E-mail address.

Many thanks
Pete.
