Could be a lot of things, but my best guess would be that the wiring between the fusebox and the lights is chafed and shorting out.

However, do take the rear light bulb units out first and check that all is well with them.

Sorry to have to say so, but it might take some finding........:(

Have u replaced the brake electrics plug which is situated behind ur pedals???? that may be it. I had the same problem after i bought my impreza, wasnt what i jus suggested, had to get an electrician out to search all the wiring, bloody nightmare. done in a few hours though and only cost £30 as im mates with the family who own the garage, so not bad! but do try the plug behind your pedals mate

Does your horn work? My brake lights and horn were off the same fuse in my version 2 sti and it was the horn that was knackered. Try removing the wires from the back of the horn then replace the fuse and try your brake lights. :thumb:
