just noticed that the lever by the drivers seat that releases the rear boot lid isnlt working, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before, and whether it may just be simple like a fuse or something else:confused:
thanks!

Open the boot with a key, and look at the catch on the lid. Next to it is a small lever. Put it in the position it's not in now, then shut the boot and try again.
It's dead easy to catch and turn the interior lever off;)

Hardly brilliant mate, been there, asked the same question, years ago.

well I appreciated your response - especially the way you wrote it
"Next to it is a small lever. Put it in the position it's not in now, then shut the boot and try again"
I can see that isn't the first time you've said that..............

For posts like that, I think there need to be an FAQ sticky.
I am sure a few of us regular SNetters will surely assist.

i had this problem too:lol1: , when jgm came to map my car he needed to be in and i told him it'd been like it for about 6 weeks, he just did as said above. i would never have thought of that. a whole year though:eek: :lol1: . i can just imagine subaru charging for fixing this problem:)

Lol, fuse, I wish..!!:lol1:
It's a cable operated boot release (classic Subaru..:Whatever_ ), which is why my alarm can't pop the boot remotely..
I suppose there's less likelihood of it going south with age, like most of the electronic gadgets on cars these days..:(
Does anyone know if the hatch uses the same method, or have they gone all techno and fitted an electronic release..?

On classics, certainly, and on some later cars, there is a switch located on TOP of the steering column shroud.
Pressing it makes the sidelights stay on when you switch off the ignition.
Loads of folk don't have a manual, (and some don't read the one they have:D ), so when they accidentally knock the switch, cleaning the interior, for example, their sidelights apparently can't be switched off.
I've seen folk who have had to resort to pulling the lighting fuse, before asking on here:D

Hmmmmmm, in that case, I'd be inclined to have a look at both ends of the cable first, make sure that:
1. the nipples:norty: on the cable ends are both present, and located in their receptacles.
2. the cable outer is NOT free to move at BOTH ends.
It's not rocket science, it works just like an older racing bike gear lever mechanism.

The whole thing runs under the trim along the driver's side above the footwell.
Removal of the trim is relatively easy too;) I've had mine off to run extra cables.
