Tbh and this isnt a biased opinion because i own one but I think its great, the interior although quite a bit of plastic inside everything seems set out ok to me si-drive is a nice toy to use if you just want to cruise gently get some fuel economy. dccd only used it once seems to do as it should although never had a impreza with it before.
Cruise control and steering wheel controls are a brilliant feature for a long steady run out somewhere, Nice jdm style sweeping clocks on startup looks smart. One gripe the mirrors arnt heated like previous models.
the car in its standard from is very quite although very smooth to drive body tends to roll abit but only goes so far but does handle quite well.
its good on fuel for once lol Mine got 35.2mpg on its last run out down country but sits about 27 mpg around the doors.
all in all I really like mine and wouldnt change back to an older model unless something really special came along.
best bet is to try one for yourself and see, but once the modding starts the car comes into a different world..

Previously owned 4 classics, including 2 P1's, still have the second, 02 WRX & a WR1, the hatch is a better build quality than any of our previous Scoobs, it's the easiest to live with on a day to day basis, now covered 25k miles, wife's daily drive & have to confess I don't drive it much.
Ours is a euro 2.5 from Litchfields, love the Recaro's they are superb, gives the lower driving position, similar to the classic, missed this on the new age cars, always felt like we were sat on them rather than in them
Like the toys, our stereo went missing on the docks so have a Kenwood double din, cracking piece of kit, Ipod, bluetooth etc,well impressed
To drive it feels a lot different to previous Scoobs, handles well but steering feels a touch vague & there's more body roll than I would like, however the wife loves it, booked into Litchfields this week for the handling pack, think when it comes back it could be a diferent story
I drove it quite a bit the other week on backroads & to be fair you get used to it, the car is a very compitent mile muncher & fun to drive
Si drive, in my opinion it's a waste of time, an STI is a performance car & personally I want it to feel as responsive as possible, always turn straight to S# and leave there
To sum up, prefer the hatch to our standard WR1, very easy competent car to live with day to day.
However we drove to Corsica, via Switzerland last year & Finland this, sorry guys but the hatch stayed at home and we took the 100k P1, it was a joint decision, much as the hatch is a fantastic piece of kit it doesn't feel the drivers car the P1 does & doesn't feel as special, but then again I really can't see Debbie or myself finding a car we love more than the P1.
Depends what you want the car for, they are superb & despite the comments about the P1, Debbie loves ours, hopfully the tweaks later this week will help

as above, only had mine a week, swapped my rb320 in for it and have no regrets.
the 330s wins in every area except maybe looks, but at 35 i wanted to lose the perceived "boy racer" style looks so sacrificed that for the practicality of the hatch with no regrets.

Rob, are you sure? Mine are, they activate when I turn on the rear demister.
with regards to the factory nav unit, what do i need to get the phone working via bluetooth?
do i need a bluetooth unit and a mic and do i need to go through a subaru dealer?
also, does the iphone work ok with it?

Think mine also are heated. And i have heated elements for my wipers on the windscreen and heated seats(which are fabulous!!!)

My 2009 STi type UK doesn't have heated mirrors - mind you the rear screen elements only work at the bottom of the screen to maybe I have a fault? Off to the dealer tomorrow so will ask them to check.

I shopuld be at my dealer now watching my car have its PPP fitted and its 10k service done, but instead I'm at my desk at work!.
The Service desk called last night to say that they haven't got the PPP ECUs in stock and are waiting for some more to be written. Why he couldn't have told me that before I booked a day off work, squared it with the Mrs and started getting excited about some more power I don't know.
Mad me mad and if I didn't want to keep my warranty I'd be very tempted by a Cobb Stage 1 map, a Miltek and uploader grrrrrrrrrr

I use Millers CFS 10W60 Synthetic motorsport oils, Drop the oil every 3000 miles without fail
Used that too in the summer, good oil. Using the 300V 5W40 for the winter, have noticed the Motul needs topping up less than the Millers or the Fuchs oil the dealers put in though...and agree with the interim oil changes Rob, I change the oil every 5K miles, always have done on my scoobs...
When it comes to the main dealer service my local dealer is great and puts in whatever oil I give them (saves a few quid aswell, as I can get it a lot cheaper from opie than they charge), shame their closing down (land has been sold to a developer)

Assuming you mean the engines and not the other bits. This has been discussed elsewhere on this and other forums a lot already mate (i.e. 2007 2L JDM vs 2007 UK 2.5L) but in summary they have slightly different characters and both have their own advantages and disadvantages.
The JDM 2L revs higher and can take more power more reliably than the UK 2.5L, but the JDM 2L produces less torque lower down and requires lots more gear changes than the UK 2.5L (making the 2.5L a more relaxing day to day car). Figure around 400bhp/400lbft or more out of a JDM 2.0L without having to change any internal engine parts (Note: some people are getting the same bhp/torque figures out of UK 2.5L cars reliably day to day on the standard internals, but most tuners swear blind that you have to fit forged internals in the UK 2.5L to get near or over these figures reliably).
Keep in mind though that one of the differences between the 2008/09 STI and earlier STI's is that the 08/09 cars have variable valve timing (AVCS) on both the inlet and exhaust sides (where as the earlier cars only have it on the inlet side). So both the 08/09 JDM 2.0L and UK 2.5L STI have a more consistent/flat torque curve with more torque earlier on in the rev range than previous models (Note: this also depends on how a car is mapped and some earlier AVCS cars also have 'lovely' torque curves).
What you end up buying depends on how much cash you've got and on whether you want to start modifying and by how much...recommend you drive both before you buy
My current 2.5L setup is making around 360bhp/390lbft torque and I am very happy with it for now...
But I'm also looking into buying a built 2.3L with forged internals (and a huge turbo/intercooler) to have the best of both worlds, when funds allow

All...I've got a 330s on a 59 and i've noticed that it doesn't have front spotlights yet everyone elses seem to? is that coz they're STI's and not the 330s or am I missing something?
