awesome mate. very similar spec to mine. just go easy on them standard internals though as i found with mine when i wrecked the pistons. running with a 2.5 bottom end now but if you do decide to go down that road ideally needs to be forged internals

Thanks for the comments, and to all those people that said the intercooler would look better black, you were right (hyperflow now fitted).

Awesome car matelots of classy mods

I was thinking of going down the MD321t with FMIC, What does it drive like? i was hoping for around 400bhp-450bhp on standard internals.

Hello Jamie,

As above I'm runing my 321t on standard internals at 410 bhp 340ft lbs (1.5 bar which most people would agree is very safe). chrisdicko is running his 321t at 440bhp 370ft lbs (standard internals sti8 slightly higher boost), we basically have the same mods so yes 400 to 450bhp is easy just depends how much you want to push it on the standard internals. I know of some people running 450bhp and 400ft lbs on standard interals with no problems (most people would say this is very brave tho). Have had no problems so far and car is running perfectly (no problems with the clutch which I was slightly worried about, is holding up no o.k). Would recommend the 321t (no criticism of other similar turbos, but I haven't tried them so can't comment). You also have the benefit of 'future proofing' as well if you go the 2.5 or stroker route in a year or twos time (if you went for a 321h or simlar you would have to change the turbo again if you put a new block in to get the most out of it).

Performace wise the car is fast! Had a VF34 prior to this (car was running approx 340bhp)the 321 pulls so much harder in the middle/top end, it really does feel a lot faster (took one of my mates out this weekend who hadn't been in a subaru before and wasn't into cars, he nearly wet himself!).

Have a look at the following (may help):

400+ BHP QUESTION... ???

Am biased of cause as I will be selling my 321t in two weeks time as I've just got my new 321V yesterday which is going on next week (see the Projects section on my build) .

Thanks for the feedback mate

Did you have the fmic fitted at the same time? i have been told it is needed with the MD321t. Just trying to decide what to buy first

Let me know when the t comes up for sale i might take it off your hands

Cheers

talking about horses im running my standard 2.5 with 425 bhp - 425 ftlb's
using a MD321T (450bhp) lateral performance turbo. 1.4 boost and thats safe.so you should have no problems
