Subaru and all the other teams except for Skoda are using helicopter assistance in order to tell them what is a head of the car on each stage. This is extremely important in Kenya since the stages are open and drivers can expect to see roadcars and buses on the stages.

After Burns was out after SS1 he offered Solberg to assist him from the Subaru helicopter. So with Solberg behind the wheel with Phil Mills as co-driver and Burns as 2nd co-driver in the helicopter we should expect to see Solberg in full action on Leg 2 and Leg 3.

SOLBERG RETIRES FROM THE SAFARI RALLY ON SS10.

Solberg has retired after his Subaru suffered a suspected right-hand front wheel bearing failure 35km from the end of the 117km first stage. They continued driving but then the wheel went of the car but they still tried to drive to service by letting Phil sit in the boot to balance the car!

But finally the team told them to stop due to safety reasons.

I think Solberg will be in line for the championship in a couple of years time....Sure he has had his bad moments but he so reminds me of Ari Vatanen...Fast, good aggresive driving style but stuggles to keep a straight car...but this will come with time.
He is doing pretty well at mo on safari and Phill is a spot on navigator and is the right man for the job to tame solbergs love for the scenery!!

Lets hope he manages to keep his seat!
