Good solder flows well.
I just finished wiring up the main part of my voltage-differential dimming circuit. Let's just hope I didn't burn anything up when I was putting the LM741 opamp together with the TIP31 NPN transistor together.
Sigh - I love snow, but I wish this weekend is going to be a little better so I can get my boost gauge in my car. My co-worker helped me fab up the cubby cover. I'll see how it turns out tomorrow @ work. Now the question is, how am I going to wire it up? Splice, solder and tape, or use taps to connect the wires together?

Um, how 'bout those specialty automotive connectors? Naw, I think I'm okay.
I just wish I could pull the lines all from the clock. I could, in theory do so, however I would not be able to use this circuit to "dim" the gauge pod. The clock and trip computer doesn't use the Subaru standard of "illum" and "dimmer" power lines to it to control the light display. I think it gets its lighting instructions from the BIU - Body Integration Unit computer.
Bruno... they're using the toilet for #1 and the leather couch for #2. I don't know who did it though... oi ~
Stef pointed out a #2 next to their water fountain this morning. Guess the new guy doesn't like the toilet so much. I thought things were cool because it had been about a week since the last "incident."
I think having 2 cats makes it significantly more difficult because they aren't happy if something from the other one hasn't been flushed.

Things left to do now that I've got a mount for my boost gauge:
a) Connect wires - need to grap some sort of plug. I'm thinking of using a USB cable as the plug to connect the gauge to a custom harness.
b) Finish up my dimmer circuit. I've got the dimer components put together, just need to wire it up and test it out on my car. It's been too cold to take apart my HVAC console to grap the lines
c) Plug in the boost sensor under the hood
Dangit - if it weren't below freezing tomorrow, I'd have it all running by tomorrow!

Boo-hoo! My dimmer circuit WORKS (YEAH!) but it doesn't work with my boost gauge! (boo!) Seems like the way the gauge is wired up, the two "colour" lights are just trigger signals. As long as enough voltage goes through the wire, it switches colour. Varying the voltage does not "dim" the light (or LED I believe) of the gauge.
When I put the gauge's +12V power wire on my dimmer circuit, it does dim its lights, however whenever I change from one "light level" to the next, the gauge goes through its "sweep" setting. Each time the voltage goes down or up, the gauge face goes through its sweep and finishes its "peak sweep" higher or lower depending on where the dimmer switch is set at.
time to rig up my OBD-2 level shifter again, with a different schematic as the last one didn't work and I put off soldering any crap over the holidays. Figure that an OBD-2 cable is more useful to me right now - nothing wrong with yours Joe, it just protrudes into my leg so I had another one that doesn't. My ECU isn't going anywhere since I no longer know how to troubleshoot it, and the new board has been delayed due bad weather (they won't release it until they're done testing) which means that with 2 months left, I'm back to square 1 just like 2 years ago, trying to pass AirCare, except this time I just need to rig up enough OBD-2 ready codes and no CEL => no rollers (ie, no actual emission reading). Just had a big maintenance bill for the timing belt and water pump replacement and with insurance bills coming, I'm in no mood to spend
What is left to be done for the Boost Gauge 'phoe? A "T" for the boost vacuum line and harness to power it?

KGB - yah, I need to T it off of the air bypass valve on the intercooler. I also need to rig up my power lines. I'm piggy-backing all of the power lines off of the clock radio. They're ready to go - just need to put on some USB plugs that I'll be using as connectors.
The cold weather isn't helping as I don't want to freeze my butt off trying to squish some vacuum line onto a barb'd T.
I think if any of the iDubs ever will the lottery, they need to set up a nicely equipped (including heat of course) garage. It must have a hoist, air tools, room to work on say 3 cars, an "office" with a TV & video game system for when the onlookers get bored of helping/heckling, a sofa to crash on... Oh, and how could I almost have forgotten, a well stocked beer fridge.

Sigh - staff meeting now.
I want to go home and be with my girls.
So Sebastien and his parnets came over for diner on Sat. He's going to be such a lady's man, I can already tell. He already hugged and kissed my daughter! Petter must be teaching him "the ways" early. He already knows how to shake his booty too.
Even though he's not as talkative as Mackenzie, he is definitely expressive with his body and facial expressions.
Mackenzie, well, let's just say once she gets up in the morning until she falls asleep at night, she's always got something to say.
If it snows tomorrow, I'll prob. drive to school and I may ask to put my car in the garage while I work on it for a bit.
Telus must have some pretty different departments for their Internet services because technical stuff is fine, yet billing services can eat ****.
I setup my parent's internet and payments a long time ago, but its on their home phone, so technically it's their account. But I have online access to cancel internet, and it has my payment setup, but I can't go and check the status or anything because it falls under their phone number, wtf.
Funny you say that, IIRC, you would need to setup an authorization code for yourself to access your parent's phone account. For all I know, it's one big amalgamated system that don't necessarily co-operate
A brain fart just came to me. I should buy a new camera lens. I should treat myself one a year since they are expensive. And I should buy it early in the year so I can use it right away. Is that being responsible?

I support this fully!
If any of y'all want to help me work on my garage tihs year, I can help make this a reality, minus the 3 car space and hoist. Air tools I've been thinking about, along with a big heater. Need to insulate the place but dunno where to begin. Got lots of crap to clear out too.

Might be cheaper in Japan -- let me know if you need anything ...
