Funny that they're doing this kind of cutting edge research over here, while at the same time having some of the most jacked up road designs anywhere in the world. Like the 35-km keinawa expressway that I take to get to Kyoto -- built on an entirely elevated platform at great expense, and carrying exactly one lane in each direction, for the entire length. Huhhhh???
I'll ping Wu Tang on MSN ... being in almost the same time zone and all.
Is that for cars? One lane each way for 35KM.... if that is, it's nuts - but then I guess they don't have enough room for more lanes to be "elevated". I suppose there is almost no on/off ramps, and thus, no way for emergency vehicle to reach a particular section?
Darren, I hooked up the laptop w/ serial port and it worked!! Grapped the codes: P0325 and P0420. I went ahead and cleared it.. I got insurance too so I will wait a week and see if the codes come back up and do AirCare once again.
I also found out the redline to be only 6238rpm. I guess the ECU's going back to i-Speed for a reflash.
Btw, on VIC.. who made Semaj the king of the forum? haha.. the guy's on a freakin power trip ever since he became a mod.
I'm still alive... barely. I've been sick 3 times since New Years and twice since mid Feb. Plus things are crazy busy since we had the Chinese New Year which means you gotta do a whole magazine in half a month.

Heh, actually the most infuriating thing is that the roadway is built to be wide enough for 2 lanes each way, but they just kinda rope off the extra area with pylons. And there are plenty of exits, too. So whenever I get on I try extra hard to squirt in front of that big truck or bus.
Actually, trucks aren't so bad because they drive like maniacs, taking totally optimized racing lines through the mountains as I mentioned before. The exhaust and lack of ability to see ahead gets old though, hehe.
Anyway, blah blah blah. Only a month or so left before I get to Tokyo and switch from driving daily to driving maybe a few times a month.
Oh, and I have to go get a Japanese driver's licence! Oh joy. The bizarre thing is, with a US driver's licence you have to re-take the driving test, which almost nobody passes on the first trip. With a Canadian licence, supposedly you can just take the written test. Either way, it's going to be interesting to say the least.
w00t, 780G motherboards are finally starting to trickle in. Looks like Gigabyte has a board that's very interesting to me. The usual DVI/HDMI/VGA but also onboard IEEE1394 and an eSATA connector on the back panel (two things I think a media center PC should have and given my slimline mATX build, having these onboard saves valuable expansion space.)
2 RRSP reciepts which I won't claim until next year anyhow, but I guess I need to include them now. (One is easy because I know exactly what it will be, but for some reason the other, my work's RRSP plan, always ends up with a number that's a bit funky, because I think they lag during the year, and then "catch-up" for the RRSP deadline so the receipt for the first 60 days tends to be more than you'd expect.)
Don't know if there is an actual leak any more, since the only other time I see water/coolant on the ground was long after I have driven. I had refilled with water again and so far, no signs of fluid. Rad cap seems to be fine and my upper hose stayed intact.
So if KFC is here, what happened to your old car again?
Joe - I guess they build 2 lanes, with one being a perpetual merge lane because there is no room for those if they allowed traffic on both lanes for the entire length. Funny how the yanks get discriminated but we get preferential treatment.
Burno - 780G is the new nVidia chipset or no? My co-worker is trying to build an HTPC with the nVidia chipset but they haven't come out for Intel CPU yet.
Having some power issues with my deck harness but the worst part is that because most of the keys don't always work, I can't punch in the security code nor can I do it with the remote. Deck stuck is code mode
Actually, 780G is the new AMD chipset. nVidia is working on essentially the equivalent (GeForce 8200), though the last rumours I heard said that it apperas it will require active cooling. On paper and, judging from early reviews, in practice they are pretty much identical but it seems like in a week or two I'll be able to get my hands on a 780G board while the GeForce 8200 is still MIA.
When I started my research to build an HTPC I was heavily leaning towards Intel but soon discovered that there was no IGP that would be able to handle my needs and concluded I would be forced to use AMD. In fact, it probably would have been possible to build an HD capable HTPC using the AMD 690G or nVidia GeForce 7050 PV chipset but I decided to wait for 780G / GeForce 8200 since they promised to be a significant step up for roughly the same price.
Unfortunately I don't think even nVidia has plans to release anything like the GeForce 8200 for the Intel platform at this time, so your friend may be waiting a long while. Right now the best they have for Intel is the GeForce 7150 which seems to have no hope of playing HD as the fact that it lacks PureVideo support makes it inferior to the GeForce 7050 PV for AMD.
Perhaps Intel has an HD playback capable IGP on their roadmap?
Anyhow, if all else were equal, I'd probably build an HTPC using an nVidia chipset and Intel CPU, but given the state of things, it looks like AMD/AMD is the best choice for now.
Your coolant must be coming out from somewhere! Rad caps okay? Simple easy check to do - pop it off, check that the gaskets don't have any rips/tears.
LaterZ!
Darren!!
My only suspicion is that the engine overheated first, forcing the coolant out through the overflow bottle. Which is why I asked about KFC's old car that seems to have the same symptoms. Right now I'm just running on water and watching it for a few days as I drive to work
Oh, but what's up with all the boards having so many audio outputs/inputs? I guess it's because most audio chipsets still can't encode multi-channel audio for digital output? (other than AC3 etc. passthrough)
I have to check to see if the thermostat was replaced along with the water pump. The overflow pipe got shifted upwards as the coolant boils and overflows, spewing coolant on top of the radiator.
Thug - it's a nice little board none the less, when you can have A/V signal right from HDMI to the TV. Screw the analog audio, just have the chipset bitstream everything through either HDMI or optical (which btw, doesn't have enough bandwidth for the next-gen HD audio being used on some BluRay disc). With a built in Draft-N chipset and the right case you can almost have an AppleTV/TimeCapsule equivalent. Rumour has it that the GeForce 8200 will eventually support Intel, but I found it odd given that AMD has aligned with ATi, that nVidia still wants to make a board for AMD first.
Yeah, HDMI is nice, but my TV doesn't have HDMI, just DVI. Still, it's another reason the board is nice, because I can use DVI now, but HDMI is there if I ever get a newer TV. I noticed it also has onboard optical. I'd actually prefer coax but I'm making due with optical right now anyhow. I really do wish they'd junk all those analog audio connectors on the back panel (or keep just stereo out, and mic in) and have more useful ports, like maybe some more eSATA ports or USB ports. They could supply brackets for the analog audio for people that actually use it. (I question how many people use a 7.1 speaker system with their PC anyhow.)
The case I'm looking at has front USB and IEEE1394 (as well as the usual audio in/out, yes more damn analog audio ports...). I'm thinking to really round things out I should use the single external 3.5" bay for a card reader (comes in handy for looking at digital photos on the TV). I notice there's some readers with an eSATA port but do I really want/need an eSATA port on the front? Then again, in a slim case it's not like I'll ever use the 5 internal SATA connectors so I might as well make another one external at the expense of a bit more "clutter" on the front.
I'm also thinking about mods to make it quieter. The side case fan is apparently pretty loud, and I wonder if I can swap the 80mm for a 92mm. At the very least I assume I will want a quieter 80mm one. I also wonder how loud the stock HSF will be.
