Appetites and a sense of humour!
I think the best thing to bring is whatever you want to drink.
We'll have some drinks (both kinds), but meat is my priority!
Looking forward to seeing y'all! <---- (been to Tennessee.)
Nice to see that good ole Crystal mall is still coming through.

I totally agree. The hardware is really competitive, and they don't have all the baggage of previous cozy carrier relationships that the Koreans have. Sometimes I fantasize about going to work for HTC in Tokyo. The big boss there is even kind of a hottie.

Yeah, it's only what, the fifth generation product, and they FINALLY got rid of Opera but I'm still skeptical about whether it can beat the Safari implementation. And I can't believe they still haven't learned the lesson from the Newton -- that particular form factor is too big to fit in your pocket, and if you're going to carry it in a bag anyway, a mini-note is far more useful. Unless, of course, you are a Man Bag (murse) kind of person ...
Of course, in the wonderful world of CDMA there is zero compatibility with the Japanese standard because of the swapped TX/RX bands, so it's totally irrelevant to you.

Just got back from Vernon. Took the futureinlaws up there to experience outofcitylife for a bit. Hydroplaned twice on hwy-5 on the Goodyear's. They worked well, keeping up at at least 120km/h in yucky rain storms, and worse conditions when passing semis. STi under full load with 4 ppl and a full trunk is definentely an experience.
Just had the rear diff, tranny, clutch and coolant replaced at Eric's shop. Convenience right down the road for me. Total or Docksteader's rounded my rear diff hex bolt a bit though....

Yep. There bolts are all rounded out! Dunno what they've been puttin on it back there to round out the bolt. Must not be using the right fitting, or perhaps not enough lube?
KY - reading what cachan said 'bout the Nikon system, it looks like it'll work, but what do I know. I have a Sony camera.
You can always take in the lens to a photography store like London Drugs, Blacks, etc. They'll be able to tell you if it'll work or not. If they're nice, they may even let you pop the lens on a camera to try it out!
Did your parnets invest in any other lenses for your Nikon camera, or is that the only one?

Is it a hole that rusted through, or is it between the flanges? If it's between the flanges, you've got air tools, so we can pop the bolts off, replace the flange and/or use high-temperature gasket material goop to seal it up.
KY. This will fit, but likely won't autofocus with the lower end cameras as they're missing the screw motor in the body (instead, they rely on the newer Nikkor DX lenses that have motors built into the lens).
Irrespective on whether or not it works, Phoe brings up a good point. If this is your one and only lens, I wouldn't use this to tie you into purchasing a specific Nikon body or even Nikon at all. This lens on a 1.5x crop factor body found in most lower and mid-range Nikons will net you ~53mm-158mm, which isn't wide enough to use in most indoor environments. As a comparison, most P&S cameras have 35-105 or even 28-130mm lenses. You'd be missing the lower ~25% of the zoom range as well as auto focus and technologies like image stabilization found in a lot of the newer lenses.
If you're going to have to buy another lens for "wide angle" shots, then that negates your original reason for getting a Nikon body.
If you don't want to spend a lot, you may want to consider Pentax, Olympus or Sony (and then you can borrow Phoe's lenses ). If you're in it for the long haul then a solid Canon or Nikon body will be a worthwhile investment.

Ditto - grap the camera locally.
If you want to go wiiiiiide, then grap a Canon DSLR body and then borrow Sato's lenses! He's the one with lots of lenses. Actually, so does cachan. If you want their lenses, I'll bring a sack of potatos and we'll go and beat them up. We'll need to bring Burno for that extra thug action.
I only have two lenses right now - the kit 18-70mm lens, and a 50mm prime lens. I'm looking into grapping two more. A 70-210 f/3.5-4.5 and a 24-105 f/3.5-4.5.

Planning for the future. Sony is suppose to come out with a full-frame 25MP camera sometime in the fall - not that I plan on getting one of those anytime soon, but if i do sell these lenses, they'll prob. go up in value. My kit lens is an "APS-C" lens which means it is optically designed for the smaller size of digial image sensors. Both these lenses I want to grap are full-frame lenses.
The 24-105 will give me a longer reach, and one less lens to carry if I go on vacation. I'll loose out on the wider end, but I'll gain at the longer end. Also, the 24-105 lens is a "D-type" lens, meaning (in Sony Minolta speak) that it has 8 contacts on the lens so that it can transmit distance information to the camera. It aperture is 3.5-4.5 where as my kit lens is 3.5 to 5.6. The 24-105 lens is a "faster" lens.
We'll see. My initial investment on these lenses, I"m trying to keep as low as possible. The 70-210 lens I'm bidding on is more rare than another Minolta lens of that range - the "Beercan" lens however it isn't as desirable as the Beercan so less people are probably going to bid on it. The Beercan lens goes for about $200-$300, but is an all metal construction with a constant aperture of f4.
The lens I"m looking at has an aperture range of 3.5-4.5 throughout its zoom. I missed out early in the summer - I bid about $65, and someone grapped it for $67. I just bid on another lens at $65, but it climbed to about $114!
I just bid on the exact same model coming from Australia. hopefully most people will ignore it since it's coming from Australia. I put a bid down of like $50.

WooT! Reen's going to try to bring the newbie out! Feel free to hold some BBQ for him, as I'm sure mom will be more than willing to pre-process the yummy BBQ meat for him.
Oh, and the computer retail hallway, it's on the 1st floor - ground level. If you know where the Pittsburgh restaurant is, it's in that hallway. They have little "electronic" shops that sell digital accessories such as screen protectors, memory keys, headphones, game console accessories, etc. I picked up a set of "jeweled" headphones for my niece for her birthday. She loves them.
If any of ya are going up there, gimmie a call and I can meet you up there. We can also go up to Nerdco's place and party it up!
Yup, just make sure to dust off all the furniture and let me know if the gym equipment is still there, or has been allowed to rot away by the strata council.
