Do you not think the word insinuated above is way off line? Why bring race into it? Surely you must be intelligent enough to come up with other words which do not insult a particular person's/people's ethnicity?!
I am sure there are lots of members on this site who are of Pakistani / Indian background who would not see the funny side nor would have appreciated your word.
Please do not let us "Scooby Owners" be tarnished as "racist / ignorant idiots"
The word is a shortened term for Pakastani, ever heard of context dependent
I have workmates who have no problem with this when their origin is being described, Ironically its white people who have the problem as they beleive it cannot be used in a non racist context
[added by webmaster : I have left the above here so everyone can see exactly what received an infraction. KOT. This is not the kind of offensive / racist terminology we want on scoobynet.]
I spend a fair amount of time overseas on holiday to some exotic locations and have been called a few names :
"Chalkey"
"Fly for a white boy"
"Honkey"
"White Trash"
Etc etc.
Did I get upset?
NO
I'm happy with who I am.
BUT - MOST IMPORTANTLY - Those names above [and more] were said in a c=ntext of friendly banter - which I was happy to accommodate and also deliver.
It seems to me that the PC NAZIS are doing a great job of dividing communities by smothering free banter.
I have just watched a Comedy Show in Orlando which is designed to find the best comedian in the USA - all the entrants were non-white.
Some were FUNNY with a Capitol F - Others were less so.
I laughed at the funny jokes and didn't at the others
I have no chip on my shoulder - I suggest everyone else tries the same.
The term is just short for Pakistani, used a work no offence taken by Asian colleagues. Used on here you are a fully signed up member to the KKK
I think you'll find most individuals of Pakistani or Indian backgrounds would not quite appreciate you using the word "PA*I" to call or describe them. Why not see them as a person or use their name to call them rather than a word which describes/relates to their ethnicity?
Besides you say your "Asian" colleagues take no offence - are they are Pakistani or Indian?. If they are Indian then how can they be described as "Pa*i" for short ? Why can't people accept individuals for indviduals rather than where they come from?
Besides I am surprised your work place allows you to use the word "PA*I" without taking any kind of disciplinary action.

Way down deep in the middle of the Congo, a hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango. He stuck it with the others, and he danced a dainty tango.
The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo", Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.
The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin. The parrot painted packets that the whole caboodle landed in.
So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle, They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Um Bongo!
