hi all.
just wondering if anyone could give me any knowledge on cases of whiplash in car accidents.

i have recently been involved in a car accident (3rd parties fault) in which i have suffered whiplash. it is in the hands on my insurance solicitors at the moment but i was just wondering is anyone has any idea what an average payout for a whiplash case would be??

Anything from about £1500 to £3000. I'm glad at least you do have whiplash. Actually, that didn't come out right I'm sorry you hve whiplash but I'm glad you're only claiming for a genuine injury.

Have been getting a bit worried that i wont get any money. im not just sueing him for moneys sake...i want some compensation seeing as the b@stard tried to run me off the road.
am now scared to drive, a nervous passenger and am still suffering shock as well as whiplash. bloody pain in the *** i can tell ya.

have been getting a bit worried that i wouldnt get any money for myself after solicitors fees and now have found out my work will claim money from me for my sick pay.

In my past experiance Whip-lash is claimed because no doctor in the world will stand up and claim that there is no evident injury.

However you will probably get about £1000-£1500 which will just be added to everyone on here's insurance next year.

It's all very well bemoaning the money that will be added to the insurance, but whose fault is that? Is it sexy wrx69's for being injured in a car crash or the driver of the vehicle who caused the crash?

Whiplash hurts like a bitch and although I don't beleive it's worth the payout it often recieves, it sounds like in this case it's a genuine injury and not an automatic "free money" scam.

and yes rik....whiplash.

hurts like a bu66er...and has had me on copious ammounts of very strong painkillers for over a week and a half now. been off work since the accident and have got physio booked in a few weeks.

cant drive...been sick as a dog...scared to be in a car...and paranoid about any car that comes close to me.

i am NOT making this up just to get some money. im not that type of person.

aprox £1400 seems to be the average (as i drove into the back of a transist van with a tow bar no marks on the van but £800 of damage to exs peogeot 106.

I made a claim about 3 yrs ago, I got £2500 payout and my GF (passenger) got £1500... took about 3 months and the solicitor handled everything.

I thought the new rules meant it had to paid within 9 months or something like that? Before this it could go on forever. I had an accident and claim just before these rules came in - took about a year.

I'm pretty confident thats the case Check with your solicitor or claims company thats dealing with it. Forgot to say, I got 1500 for a rear shunt into the car in front. Back at work the next day but could only work half days for 2 weeks and couldn't sit for more than 15 minutes

have just been looking on the net...and most sites reackon it could take anything from under a year to 2 - 3 years!!!!

god i hope it doesnt take that long.

ive been signed off work for 9 days altogether...got neck brace...been referred to a physio...and been put on 3 sets of painkillers.
am at work now...but im bloody agony from sitting at puter all day.

i know this bloke is not going to take this quietly...so i reackon im going to dealing with this for a hell of a long time

I think Rich's dragged out for quite some time, I think it was about 18 months or so before he got anything out of it although he still suffers from back pain 4 years on from a rear end shunt on the m25

A guy that used to work for me ran into the back of someone on the M25, we got a letter from one of these ambulance chasing no win no fee Solicitors,saying they were making a claim against our insurance. This was 4 months after the accident, and the guy had walked away, no ambulance was called, no mention of a sore neck either.
When we went to renew the company insurance, we found that the insurance company had just paid out £27,000.00!!!!

I assume that this was all for PI as I believe the vehicle insurance was paid out separately, even if it wasnt, it was a shed of a van that he was driving and wouldn't be worth more than about 5K.

I was hit in December 1996 by 3 cars one after the other

4 years later I got £4,500

Not much considering I had a bad back since then which resulted in me having 5 months off work last year having 1 3rd of my lower lumbar disc removed and severe sciatic pain

I'd rather give the money back and be able to play football and do other things I used to do

As a wicked stroke of luck, I received the cheque in Feb and couple of weeks later it all went pair shaped and I ended up in hospital.

Had a top solicitor in Liverpool look over my case but was told even though doctors were certain this was caused by the accident and I would never be the same again I was unlucky and could not re-open the case.

Oh well, I'm still alive I suppose

Accident in June 2000 - lorry ran me off the M1 motorway and totalled my Corsa (although it stood up very well I thought!), Very painful whiplash (although I felt nothing wrong with me at the time the policeman told me to wait until the morning then go to hospital when it started hurting !) which meant painkillers for ages and spending alot of time resting my neck, also problems with the playscheme I was working on etc. Nightmares and nervousness on the motorways (although it will take more than that to stop me driving!! ) all added up to £3000 and it took about a year. They may be able to get you an interim payment though?

Oh, and get a good scarf - almost 3 years on and it still hurts on cold days/if I've slept funny/been standing up for a long time, scarf helps keeping it warm, if you can get hold of something called "balmosa" (it's a cream), I think it's technically for some feet problem, but my step-dad makes it and it's like Deep Heat but 10 times better! Has a built in pain killer and keeps the blood flowing to it and therefore repairing faster. Was a great help when I was recovering

Someone ran into the back of my girlfriends Renault 5 with a Renault Espace a few years ago. Went to the doctor straight away and he made the suggestion about whiplash and made my girlfriend wear one of those protective collars for a while.

Got £300 for the Renault (you can imagine what sort of a car it was) straight away as it was a write off but the case for the whiplash went on for ages. After about a year my girlfriend finally got a payout of £2000 which definitely made it worth while and ment her new car had cost her £2300 less than it would of done. Added to this the months of hire cars (seemed to be a different brand new car to redline every week) and all in all it was pretty good for her.
