Top Gear tonight

Two questions here for those "bandwagon" posters...
which shows you haven't watched any of this series, 'cos "the fat guy" isn't even in it any more, so obviously your opinion of this series and tonights program is somewhat irrelevant
And :
How on earth are people like Boris Johnson ( a one time guest) and AA Gill (who Clarkson immediately described as "a strange man" and then NEVER referred to him again in the program..) how are these "cronies" ??
So that makes Harry Enfield his crony does it? What about Roger Moore, who was shown in a clip for about 10 seconds? And don't forget Santa, I'm sure he's been to see Clarkson's kids once a year...
And OF COURSE its a platform for Clarkson, Hammond and May - THEY ARE THE PRESENTERS. Why ELSE would they be on there, if not for their own benefit?
What a load of tosh. If you don't like it DONT WATCH IT. I don't like Eastenders, but don't feel the need to moan about it.
I enjoyed it. I always do. Its entertainment, and FAR better than "Britains Most Haunted"

it makes me physically sick to watch his cronies (the fat guy and the weird voiced short bloke)
And :
The whole show is just a platform for Clarkson (and his cronies AA Gill, Johnson, et al)

Oh dear Buzz, you are upset.
I'm afraid, old fellow, that AA Gill IS a Clarkson crony - if you read the Sunday Times, you would know they occasionally do long articles together in the Magazine section. You therefore missed the point entirely when he described him as a "strange man"....do I have to explain?

I think the "new" Top Gear is a load of old bolleux and has been from the start.
Why on earth make it an "audience" show? It should be a magazine format just like the good old days.
Clarkson is power mad and overrated, it makes me physically sick to watch his cronies (the fat guy and the weird voiced short bloke) suck up to him.

What's wrong with the black taxi? Seems to me it has a lot of things going for it:
1) Longevity
2) Popularity
3) Ludicrously small turning circle
4) Ridiculously fast acceleration 0-30 (I think they're flat out at about 45)
5) Plenty of space inside

That video of the Paris chase is no way the best French motoring video. A million times better than that (though they could NEVER show it on TV) is the film a guy made on a motorbike going round the peripherique (Paris equivalent of M25) at 150+ in the middle of the rush hour! It was previously deemed impossible for any vehicle to complete a whole circuit in under 1 hour - but he managed it at 5pm in the afternoon!

Went to watch it being filmed on Wednesday boring long day All about Jags.
As for the car racing around the streets when you watch it propley it does'nt seem right. The buildings, etc are moving too slow for the speed the car is supposedly travelling at.

The whole show is just a platform for Clarkson (and his cronies AA Gill, Johnson, et al) to go on an ego trip. It's not about cars anymore, it's about making Clarkson look clever. The criteria to be a co-presenter is being a weak stooge who will lick Jeremy's butt and also be the butt of his crap jokes.

Personally still believe it's a refreshing change from the magazine style programs... driven and 5th gear. Out of 25 minute shows they spend around 3 or 4 telling you "what's coming up later" and I find it increasingly hard to get excited about a mondeo diesel
They've introduced fresh material in the best car ever, and so what if the black cab's in there, it is a great car, personally I will vote for the Audi Quatro.
No I'm not Clarkeson's mother but I do find him slightly amusing.
Finally my wife will watch it as well so I get to see it every week rather than having to video it and then only come to find the kids have recorded over it.

The points of view postbag was full of letters from people who were too lazy to turn over or off.
If your point is that you're subsidising the production of this program through your license fee and you think it's a waste of your money then you should try turning on the TV at primetime any other day of the week.
I'm not saying Top Gear is as good as it could be, but it certainly raises the BBCs weekly average.

I have watched that film of "allegedly" a ferarri being driven "allegedly" by a racing driver across Paris at what looks like 5 am in the morning. I agree that it doesn't seem to be going that fast. At one point he overtakes a renault 4 or something and he doesn't exactly fly past it. Also, how the hell was this filmed? If you strapped a steadycam to the front of a fararri and drove around a street circuit at 100mph+ the thing would be bouncing up and down like mad. They didn't have cameras the size of a pinhead back then.
