Default Charcoal suit, pink shirt, which tie?

Solid, striped or patterned?

tie is not worth worrying about when all you have a 1980's charcoal suit and an 1990's pink shirt

If your shirt is plain or unpatterned, you can go for a patterned tie. I would try and find a tie with light blue and pink in it, a simple design / pattern or bold stripe.

If your shirt has a pattern or is herringbone, you'll need a solid, plain tie, or at a push a thick, bold stripe, preferably light blue, or pink...........

Never wear a patterned tie with a patterned shirt, a striped tie with a striped shirt etc......

What's the occaison?

That's what I'm asking!

Very fine check on the shirt, almost oxford but not quite.

WWSD - It's the opposite problem, suit and shirt are new but after review, all my ties are 80's and 90's!! One of them is 25 years old

For interview.

I'm getting the mental image of

Anyway I'd say plain red tie, this will offset the light pink shirt and add a little contrast.

Hmmm, for an interview I would think of a light blue or white business shirt myself. Pink is more informal, IMO, unless it is an informal / casual company.

Personally I'd only wear a pink shirt to a wedding / evening occaison.....

Red or purple would be better with a white shirt and dark suit. If it is a very fine check, think of a stripe or plain tie.

Any chance of a white shirt?

Opps - sorry didn't read it properly

Pink and red trust me.. I know ... red and pink just don't suit

If it's light pink maybe a silvery grey(plain), to help compliment the charcoal of your suit? but failing that purple

I could have given you sartorial advice, but you needed to ask me before you bought a grey suit and a pink shirt!

I wasn't sure about the pink myself but looked good in the shop and my missus thought it was OK so that's good enough for me.
I thought I'd have a tie out the dozens I've got but struggling.

I reckon it'll be ok for interview as it's in the city, plain pink is very understated, it's mostly Thomas Pink and TM Lewing in your face type stuff.

There's some debate on the red/pink, pink/red thing, any more thoughts?
Suit is near enough black in reality.

Leaning towards the silvery grey thing now...

Haven't worn a white shirt since school so a bit reluctant, wear blue oxford or checked most of the time with chinos so want to present a different face at the interview. It's internal but in a differnet division so want to demonstrate smart is achievable without being formal.

No tie is the answer these days. Nice suit and shirt, open collar is the way forward.

Actually, that's a different tie, but a very similar color. I tend to like dark red ties with black or grey.
